You're so beautiful and he is a hunk for sure. How long have you two been together? Tom and I met when he was 18 and I was 15.
(I was 16 and he 19 a couple weeks later). We have been married 41 years and together for 43. And they said it wouldn't last!!

hank and i did meet in the 70's .. HA! i was a 'quasi-hippie' working for the Director of the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration in Washington, D.C.!!! now THOSE were interesting days! Actually, when we first met, i was on my way to the CRIMINAL DIVISION to talk with my 'new boss' .. was walking down the corridor after office hours .. 'the man' walked out of his office .. saw me .. threw himself back against the office door .. clutched his chest .. and exclaimed: "I'M IN LOVE!" ... i took a few steps past him ... stopped .. turned around .. and walked about 1 inch from him .. put my face up toward his .. and replied: "Yea? But would you MARRY ME?"

Then .. turned around and kept walking while he just stood there and gasped! HA! he searched the building the next day (all 7 floors)!! until he found me! the rest is history!

We were married on America's Bi-Centennial .. July 4, 1976 .. on a mountainside in Colorado.

Some more fun stories of that day were: my 'ex' husband 'gave me away' .. his new wife (my wife-in-law) was my matron of honor .. we wrote our own vows .. no 'OBEY' was mentioned! vows totally built around 'independence/freedom' in our marriage as it related to our own individuality .. (not smothering each other .. or trying to make either of us 'change' the basics of who we each are!) by the way .. that is a WONDERFUL way to live in a relationship! trusting and caring and understanding! our two daughters (Wednesday ... 5 and Kristen .. 10) said a prayer they made up and recited a poem they had written. Jimmie (ex) and Cherie (his new wife) both spoke and told how much they loved us .. and after the ceremoney .. hank fulfilled a promise he had made to his rugby buddies all over the country to 'ride up naked on a stallion .. swoop up his bride and ride through the mountains!) o.k. .. he never learned to ride a 'stallion' .. so he tied a hobby horse to the front of his motorcycle .. rode up with a buffalo helmet on his head and big fur boots on his feet and half-way up his legs .. and 'father-nature' in-between! OH what a lovely day! OH .. and the 'officiator' at our wedding was hank's best friend .. the captain of his rugby team!

Frannie, What a great story!! I love it. It is just so you. I can't agree more about keeping your individuality. I really think that is what has kept Tom and I together all these years. He does his things and I do mine and we have a lot we do together. We both are just too free spirited to have someone who would smother.

oh mary jane ... that is indeed the secret! xo

thanks jo .. now don't forget the 'hobby horse'!

a little p.s. to that story! it was fourth of july 1976 ... LOTS of parties going on in those mountains! there was a home across the road from us with a huge balcony .. and about 200 people were leaning over the edge .. watching hank in his attempt to 'kick start' that cycle .. buck naked! when i saw him .. there was a huge uproar from the wedding guests .. and i looked at the road coming down the mountain .. and there was my 'mountain man' .. fulfilling his promise!

his friend who 'married' us .. proposed to his sweetheart at our wedding! they've been married almost as long as we have now! xo

oh my darlin' .. and i delight in him! i do believe we were made for each other!

NOW .. this is NOT to say that there have not been a few times in our lives .. if he had been standing in front of a window on the 13th floor of a building .. i have been tempted to take a running leap and shove him outta' it! (HA! and probably he would have done the same for me a few times!) but then .. makin' up is always the best part of 'disagreeing'!!)

i can't even imagine either of us 'surviving' WITH someone else .. or WITHOUT 'us'!

the darlin' man has some of the attributes that most men have that 'jokes' are made of! that damn tv CLICKER being one of them .. whipping from station to station! EVERY couple in love should have TWO tv's!!

oh let's see .. then there is the "you never listen!!" HA! that would be ME yellin' that!!

he gave up complainin' about me spending too much money a LONG time ago! THAT was a battle he was NOT going to win!

of course, i drive him nutz (or usta') cuz' i am ALWAYS ... LATE! then shortly after we were married .. we hit upon the PERFECT solution to that one! we had a NIRVANA moment in our relationship!

We were living in Colorado .. he played RUGBY .. and the game was two hours away up in the mountains! he HAD to be there to 'start' the game! He was pacing and telling us (me and the kids) to hurry up! hurry up! ... i jus' looked him in the eye and calmly told him to 'go on ... go to the game .. and we'll meet you there'!

he asked me WHEN we would be there .. i told him: MOUNTAIN TIME. he, of course, looked puzzled and asked me 'WHAT is MOUNTAIN TIME? we live in the mountains!"

I replied: WHEN YOU SEE ME COMIN' OVER THE MOUNTAIN .. I AM THERE! and explained that no matter if we live in the mountains or by the sea .. .in the city or country ... i will always arrive on MOUNTAIN TIME! (by the way .. this was over 30 years ago and has worked PERFECT for us!)

he was soooooooo surprized that i was happily willing to drive long distances TO and FROM an event alone .. or with the girls .. IF i couldn't be 'on time'. HA! hence the beginning of all the 'money spending'! soooooooooooo many antiques shoppes to stop at and shop at between distances!

i swear .. what with 'diseases' and all .. if something turrible happened to hank .. i would enter the nunnery (and i'm not even catholic!) .. cuz' there isn't enough time or patience left in this body of mine to 'train' another husband!

yep! i got a 'keeper'!!! xoxo

My DH and I had the opportunity to meet both Hank and Frannie this past summer while on vacation. They are two of the most fantastic people you can have the pleasure to meet. My DH and I arrived by motorcycle unannounced (except by exhaust she being a big old HD Hog). No one to be found so we snapped a few pics and started to leave a note when my DH found Hank in one of the buildings grooming one of the dogs. He was soooooo friendly to us complete strangers, showed us their beautiful home and property until Frannie arrived from town. Frannie was a VERY gracious hostess even invited us to stay the night after just knowing us for hours. It was sad leaving after just a few hours we felt like long time friends. I hope to again visit with them. To Hank and Frannie - Thank you for the breath of fresh air and old fashion friendship.

What great pictures and stories! You are a hoot Frannie! Husband and I jumped the broom 09-03-77 - and what a grand 30+ years it has been. We promised each other on our 30th that we would give it at least another 30! But I surely would like to celebrate 75 years with him one day...that's only 45 years from how and I will only be 93...so that seems doable to me!

Absence make the heart grow fonder you know. And with him in Tunisia a month at the time, we are quite fond of each other! I do however get to talk to him by phone every day. That makes the separation a bit more bearable.

You gave me a smile this evening girlfriend Frannie!
