Hi Ladies!

I went to the Lower Granite lake/river today with my dog, Sky. As we were driving back I noticed a bunch of bushes with berries so I stopped and found out they were wild raspberries!! I picked a bunch but was in the wrong type of clothes for berrying so I did not get too many.

I think you need to wear a thick leather suit for berrying (just kidding) My arms look like they had a run in with an angry cat! I think if I go back I will take some sort of pruning shears to trim away all the dead branches that still have thorns on them- what do you all do to prevent being mauled by berry bushes?

Ciao

Alee

Hi Alee, I have wild raspberries in my backyard. They just cropped up last summer. A gift from a bird, no doubt. I have been training them onto a trellis but you are right about the leather.

To pick them, I wear jeans and a denim shirt with wellington boots and leather gauntlets. I also put on saftey goggles just in case.

I am glad I am not the only one that feels this way then! LOL Imagine truly wild raspberries that have had no pruning for AGES! (if ever) There was so many dead wood/stalks on the ground that it felt like a tiptoe through the cactus patch!

Cheers
