I just recently got into house plants and bought a small one at the nursery here in town. This time of year I can not find a good selection of house plants and was wondering if any of you have some neat house plants that would be willing to share a cutting or seeds? Thanks!

ha..the addiction starts! LOL
I will let you know..check out your local Winn Dixie's plant section. The one here marks down the "expired plants"..they really aren't expired..they just have a date code on them for the "expected to sell by date" ..anyhow..when they "expire"..our local Winn Dixie marks them down on Mondays and puts them in a cart at reduced prices.
I have found some nice ivy plants and some mums at great prices.
Another tip is..this is a great time to find marked down seeds at the local garden centers.
All of the spring batch of seeds should be nearing drastic mark downs as well.

We don't have a Winn Dixie.  And we only have one small garden center here in town and that is where I bought my one lonely houseplant. They didn't have much to choose from at all! I need something that is easy to care for and doesn't need tons of light!

| I'd be glad to stick some babies from my spider plant in an envelope for you. Can't guarantee that they'd be alive when they reached you, but they are pretty tough. |

I don't know what kind of plant I bought. Seriously, the woman told me but I can't remember. It is a greenish white plant that is compact right now but as it grows it should get vines. It isn't ivy, that much I know.
What is a spider plant? And what is a mother plant? Is it the type of plant that is also called a pregnant plant? I read that house plants clean the air in your house and actually make it much healthier, so that and the beauty of fresh green plants in the dead of winter make me want more and more plants!!!

All I know is what I was told, she said, it was also called the devil plant. It actually grows its seeds around the edge of leave of the plants. I am sure its has several names. But I think its a neat plant. If you want it let me know soon,I will mail it. I think it will survive if sent in a padded envelope in a small plastic bag. Seems to be a hearty plant.

Have you ever seen the red and green plants in flower bed? They are called coleous ( I spelled it phonetically?) If you take cutting from them in the fall, the top grouping of leaves,you will have a houseplant in a month. These are annuals in our sad, short climate. Go cut up you neighbors flowerbed, with permission. Once mine get into the dirt, I can send you some.
