I was wanting to know if any of you have any recommendations or non-recommendations for website builders and website hosts. I currently assist farmers in learning how to diversify out of tobacco, as well as assisting them with other things. We are compiling a manual for them on marketing their product and one of the sections is websites. What have you experienced with building personal websites/webpages and any recommendations you would like to give?

Thank you in advance!

I have been using Esosoft since I started an email list about a decade ago. They've been good to work with. www.esosoft.com

I've used Microsoft FrontPage to build/design my sites.

And have used www.doteasy.com to host my site...if you only need a basic site without such things as php and cgi, don't have a Huge amount of traffic, and don't need much tech support...they have an extremely inexpensive package that has been great for me. They have other things available for I think $8 a month and up. But I haven't tried that.

I used citymax.com to build my website. It was really fast and easy. I started out with Heritage Web Solutions; they were supposed to design my site and get it hosted, but what a nightmare! They completely ignored me, never called or returned my calls - anyway after a month, I fired 'em and did it myself with citymax. Thank goodness they gave me my money back! My site is hosted by enom.com.

None of this free, of course; I pay about $16 a month for the site. You can look at it at www.mealsbymarlene.com. In fact, please do!

Thank you guys for your help with this! :o) I have used FrontPage as well as Geocities. Having your ideas will definitely help to provide farmers with some direction on how to get their product going.

Marlene, I will be sure to check out your website!

Thanks again.

Jessica, My husband and I do both of these, we build, design and host websites. We do not use any of these programs like frontpage, my huband does everything himself so we can tailor the site to the client. Check out www.sisterhood.sqrlbee.com or www.sqrlbee.com are two of the sites that we built just recently. The sqrlbee studio is not finished but still check it out. Email me if you have any questions or would like our help.

Blessed Be
