I'm curious as to whether or not someone here has come across or made their own concoction of oven cleaner. I've been hard at it for and hour and a half and there is a burnt on stain in the botton of the over that just won't budge. I cleaned the rest of the oven with borax and baking soda kinda pasty, and then wiped a lot until the residue was gone. I've tried baking soda, borax, comet, peroxide, windex, salt/vinegar, NOTHING IS working. I've even scraped some with a razor blade. Maybe I'm just OCD, but the oven is only a year old, and I would like it to stay as new looking inside as the outside. It has a self cleaning setting, and I know how to turn it on, but I don't want to make this baked on setting even worse. I don't really know how the self clean works...

Cristine-

I would suggest using the self-clean setting and then doing the baking soda again.

Each self-cleaner is a bit different but basically it locks down the oven, heats is up super hot (I think around 800 degrees) and ultra bakes everything. Most stains should be carbonized and your oven is made with this in mind, so it won't hurt your oven at all. I have a regular oven that doesn't have a self-clean setting and I miss that setting! It really makes those baked on stains much easier to remove!

How long are you leaving the baking soda paste on?

Have you tried leaving a bowl of ammonia in the oven overnight? That always has worked for me.

You should also clean the oven door & window BEFORE using the self clean setting!
