As you sit in the quiet of the night, you contemplate about life.
About the joys and the sorrows, about what has made you become what you are. Each challenge, each piece of laughter, the tears and the anguish at times has made you, you. At times, you have wondered why you life had taken the coarses that it had, it was sudden and unexpected. Would you change anything?
I am realizing that I don't think that I would because the trails, and joys and triumphs make up the very character of who I am. All those things happened to create the person that I have become. It has made me more compassionete and caring of others around me.
It has also made me realize that in giving I am given too, in receiving, I am learning to become more humble.
Yes, the quiet of the night reminds me of who I am and who I am becoming.
Carol Sue

Enjoying life.

Amen, Carol Sue. I am awake because laying down was making my back hurt too much tonight. So, I am busy putting together door prizes for Monday and sorting out life's mysteries as I do so. :)
I'm glad to know I'm not alone when it comes to comtemplating the universe in the wee hours of the night.
Now, go get some sleep!!!

Karin - you have worked so hard getting ready, your back is telling you - no more! I hope it is not still hurting on Monday. I want you to have fun! That is exactly what my back does, and only recently has lying down made it worse and not better.

I, too, am often up in the quiet of the night....I read, I pray, I fold laundry, sometimes I worry. It used to upset me, because I felt my body needed the rest. Now I am thinking it may be the time to contemplate, as you said Carol Sue, and I try to lean into that time, and make use of it.

Sometimes, I sit on my back porch and listen. There are many things awake in the quiet of the night! One night the moon was so bright, I could have seen anything clearly as it walked through the trees. And there was Mr. Raccoon. He seemed to know I was watching.

Tnanks for this post, Carol Sue, and thank you for the words of wisdom. It tells me we should all rest and enjoy, even though sleep sometimes evades us.

I was up with you ladies last night, but was in too much of a cold-medicine fog to type. Nora decided it would be fun to wake up and _not_ go back to sleep. She finally went down for the night around 3am.

hmmmmm..... i think i shall walk down to see if carol sue is awake, the joys of chatting in the middle of the night and that she is close enough to walk down the street to(well while its still not freezing temps atleast)

Carol Sue -- thanks for sharing your heart with us! Sometimes the quiet of the night can be a wonderful time.

I woke at 4:30 this morning with lots of thoughts whirling in my head. Decided to get up, make some coffee, and enjoy the early morning quiet of the house. I can hear the clock ticking in the living room, the kitty snoring on the bed, and the bubbling of my coffee maker. The quiet is a blessing to me this morning!

Carol Sue, no computer to type on in the quiet of the night last night, but I awoke and started thinking about how lucky I am to be blessed with family, loving husband, paid for home, beautiful part of the country, friends, computer and computer friends. Gratitude makes life even sweeter. thanks for the reminder of taking time to reflect in the quiet of the night.
