Kathie told me about a way to make a faux chenille blanket using flannel and I started wondering if I could make a "yarn" out of flannel strips and crochet that to blankie size and if that would work as well.
Here is what I was thinking:
I have some good sized scraps of flannel. If I cut them into strips and then joined the strips *like you would for a rag rug*, could I then crochet the strips into a blanket that would fray enough to be cozy but stay together enought to last? Or would I have to sew the flannel strips at least a little to preserve the fabric?
I think I am going to try it soon, but please share what you ladies think!
Alee, you may have to sew along both edges for it not to unravel all the way. When you d a rag quilt, you do have sewn edges and mine has been thrown in the washer lots and it has frayed past those edges. Don't know if that will help.
