I started planting this year for it. Although I'm a little tired of ebay, and internet sales, so I'm probably going to sell at the local flea markets, and such. Maybe even just put a small ad in the paper once a month. Cristine |

I want to sell dried herbs, but it seems like no one is, so I wondered if there was a reason. |

Hi Alicia, If you want to sell dried herbs that are food grade, to be used in cooking, you will need to know your county health department regulations. There are some things to look for in processing & packaging. Other than that I can't think of a reason no one is selling them. Maybe that is just in your area. If you are selling drieds that are not for food use, such as for crafting, there are no regulations that I know of. I would package them "Not for food use". Herbs used in soapmaking or other beauty products may be regulated. Maybe one of our in residence soap makers can tell us. Does that help? Rhonda

We used to grow and sell our own "plain" dried herbs but found it hard to be profitable, because so many big companies sell pounds of herbs sooo cheap. BUT, as Garliclady said, when you mix them together to create herbal dip mixes and teas and such, they sell really well! We used to sell herbal dips and teas, and there definately is a market for such things; we simply chose to make bath and body products instead (when we got too busy to do both herbal foody things and herbal body things). Good luck - what a fun adventure! :) |
