This was a disappointing year for our garlic and shallots. We lost some and what we did get was small. We have been selling our small garlic at the farmers market to our very dedicated customers.
Our problem this year is... What do we sell at the garlic festival ?(which we had already paid entry fee for before harvest). It is a 2 day wine and garlic festival and many of the festival goers are on vacation so they are willing to spend money but won't buy perishable items etc. we found that out last year when we brought our fresh shiitake mushrooms. I will have a few garlic braids but very little loose garlic
One year I made garlic earrings out of real garlic (they have been a great success) this year I decided to sell necklaces too. Here is what I made so far I make garlic herb dog biscuits and they sell well. I make garlic powder , shiitake mushroom powder , and herb blends and dried dip mixes from things we grow on the farm.
I make "green " bags to store lettuces and greens in and sell at the farmers market and will take them . I want to make cotton bags for storing garlic but am unsure of the size to make them ? any ideas?
A friend makes coffee soap that gets the garlic smell out of you hands and she is giving them to us for a great wholesale price and we will sell them at retail .

I love those earrings, too. I wonder if I wore them to work, if they would keep the crazy people out of my office - LOL! And I'd sure buy the dog biscuits. At the farmer's market where my dh set up this summer, most folks brought their dogs with them. I like the soap idea, too.

Do you go the festival at Rebec? My mom and dad have a B&B in Lovingston and always sell out for the weekend. If this is the one you are going to let me know where your booth is and I'll have my mom come by.
I LOVE the earrings! I think the cotton bags are great. You could make them in a varity of sizes too. What about wine bags?
You could make some iron on images of garlic or other things with your ink jet printer and put them on the side. You could use linen or cotton or even use patterned fabric.
If I think of any more ideas I'll let you know! Good Luck!
