Well, we are soon ready to breed our fainting goats. We have one buck named Chip. Chip was born last spring and has since gone thru puberty....ie: he grew a beard, his voice has gotten lower and he has physically matured. We have three females that are ready to mate this fall also. We also have a young female who is not yet mature. Her name is O'Malley. O'Malley is more like a dog than a goat and loves to walk all over the farm with us. A few nights ago, my bil was taking O'Malley and Chip for a walk. All of a sudden, Chip decided to "practice" mating with O'Malley. The funny thing is....as soon as he got behind her and lifted up on his hind legs, he "fainted" and fell to the ground totally paralyzed and stiff. I am afraid our herd will never grow at this rate....thought you all might get a kick out of that story.

I am still laughing while typing this. Bev do not worry the guys do calm down and get to the business they are expected to do but when the season first starts is is not just Fainting Goats who can go to the ground. I had one Cashmere billy who would work himself into such a frenzy that his eyes would glaze over and he would drop to the ground and pant so hard I thought he would stroke out. Now he is much better at it - the girls are having dates with him as I type. Try not to worry and you might even consider charging admission. It would help with the feed bill for the winter. Thanks for the giggles.
