When I was young and foolish I wanted hundreds of acres and a old timey farm house with at least a dozen bedrooms Good thing I grew up. I am interested in being self-sufficient. Simple living, permaculture , wind power, cob building and micro farming. Looking at what natural wild turkeys go for on the gourmet market, I would love to have a flock of wild birds, some for us and friends and some for sale. Add some chickens and a couple of breeding bison, maybe a spotted pig or so and I think I know where I want to go. It cannot be so big that I can't do it on my own. I'm undecided about my farm house, but not large is a good working plan.
due to the windy Palouse, I think no matter where we end up, We will be calling our spread Windholme.
Being a coastal kid, now my big challenge is learning to garden in my area. After a couple of bad attempts, I'm looking more into native plants and those that can survive being baked all summer and drowned most of the winter
Style wise my home will be bungalow/farmhouse with a huge kitchen with centre isle cooking and lots of room in a walk in pantry.I'm a "my hearth is my home" kind of lady. We are going to be in north Idaho for at least the next 20 years, so I'm trying to make the best of it.

That sounds lovely Annika! I too used to dream of a mansion like farmhouse when I was little- Then I grew up and realized how hard that would be to keep clean! I love the name you have chosen- Windholme!

Sounds wonderful! Very similar to my views. We are still coastal (sort of, bottom of the Puget Sound in Oly WA) so I understand how the change could be interesting. Can't wait to follow you through your journey to getting your dream place!
