I am wondering if I should take Sky to the vet. She isn't acting terribly odd or off, but I was petting her today and I think her lymph nodes at the bend of the jaw are swollen. (Kind of behind the line of the jaw and under but forward of the ears) At least there is something there that I can feel that I normally can't feel.
What do you ladies think?

Dogs and cats have a gland in the area you are talking about. Sometimes they get congested. You can try massaging that area. If it is bothering the animal they will enjoy the massage.

Take her to the vet Alyssa...asap. I don't want to alarm you with what I just went through this past weekend, but suffice to say it began with the exact symptoms you describe.

Alee,
Take her to the as soon as you can get an appt. Those are lymph nodes. It could be just an infection from a tooth or something, but, don't take a chance. My little chocolate and tan doxie had swollen lymph nodes and it turned out to be Lymphoma. I don't mean to scare you, but, even if it is just an infected tooth or a virus,get her to the vet.Let us know how you make out.

I called the vet and he said since she isn't off her feed or acting sick, to wait a day or two to see if they go down. If she still has it on Tuesday I will take her to my hometown vet since we will be in Wyoming by then.
Thanks for all the advice ladies! I appreciate it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being overly concerned about something silly. I am glad you all agree that I should be concerned. I am watching her pretty closely today.

He lasted for a year on chemo,both IV and Pills, and Prednesone. He was a happy little dog and lived a good year. It was worth every penny we spent. I believe he had it for awhile when we took him to the vets. He never really showed any signs that anything was wrong. I just noticed the very swollen nodes one day when I was stroking his neck, both sides. I wish I would of noticed it sooner.He just turned 6 when he passed away. I miss him very much.

A week ago last Sunday our Daisy suddenly became blind (the day before she had hiked with us!). I noticed the lymph nodes in her neck were swollen so took her to the vet on Tuesday. By Wednesday afternoon we had the grave results and she was given a massive dose of prednisone. By Saturday I made the most difficult decision of my life and had her sent to a happier place, rather than wait for her to get sicker than she already was. She was almost 13 and too old to take the chemo. We figure the prednisone caused her kidneys to fail, and were warned about the possibility. Our vet told us that it was lymphatic sarcoma and had progressed very rapidly...that had we tested her a month ago, the tests would likely have come back negative.
I still can't believe she's gone and completely understand how much you miss him. I loved her dearly.
