I have been watching the BBC's Show "How Clean is your House". It is amazing how dirty some people allow their houses to get. I can understand a certain amount of clutter and dirt that is a lived in house- but not cleaning for 24 or more years?

Anyway, one of the things that has really opened my eyes is how many bacteria, viruses, and fungi that can grow inside of a house. It seems that we humans can adapt to bacteria and not get sick if we live in it continuously, but have a baby or someone over and they can end up in the hospital.

The reason I bring this up is one show featured a woman that was very environmentally conscious and worried about recycling- but nothing ever left!

So don't be afraid to grab a little household salt, borax, baking soda, lemon juice, and water and clean those counter tops and bathrooms!! Cleaning doesn't have to destroy the environment, but we don't have to be destroyed by out environment either!

Hugs!

I use vinegar on my countertops to keep the ants and bacteria away. nightly I squirt lemon juice onto the cutting board after I wash it to keep it germ free and I don't EVER use a plastic cutting board for anything. I trim meat with the kitchen scissors right on the surface I am cooking it on, or better yet, I have the butcher do it...we have a great butcher local!

The thing that suprised me was that just flushing the toilet can cause particulates of fecal matter to jump into the air and it can drift up to 6 feet. So any cups and such in the bathroom cna be carriers of nasties. So they suggest you put the lid down every single time you flush and of course wash and rinse your cups and such every day.

Yeah makes you wonder doesn't it! It makes me want to put my toothbrush inside some sort of sterilizing something over night. Maybe vinegar? Listerine?

Yeah we close the lid too. However, my father's house has the toilets seperate from the rest of the restroom. (shower sinks bathtub in a seperate room from the toilet. When we get out house I plan on doing the same for this germ reason alone!

Oh Gross! I just watched a "How Clean is your House?" where the lady's fridge was so gross it had a "bio film" in it. They equated it to the scum that you can find of river rocks and it was so pervasive that they said that they would have to you such a strong cleaning agent to clean the fridge that it might kill the woman! So she had to get rid of her fridge! Can you believe it?

THAT is disgusting! Can you imagine it being so bad you have to
get rid of it?

And how do you dispose of it? Is it considered a bio hazard at that point?
