Just finished canning peaches and when I took them out of the water bath, the jars overflowed. All of the bottles sealed themselves but the jars are all sticky. Is the seal anygood? What should I have done differently?

Thanks
Marianne

Sounds like maybe you filled them too full, that's the only think I can think with them overflowing. I think that if they all "popped" when they were cooling the seal should be good but I'm no expert.

That is my guess too...I think they will be okay..but I would watch them..if a tiny sliver of peach pulp get between the seal it will pop open later..uck!!

Filling your jars too full, or did you go over on your hot water bath time? Two things that could cause the overflow. Don't worry I think we have all been there done that before!! As long as they stay sealed, they will be fine. Michele
