I will be picking up a new to me serger tomorrow. the serger is an older model white serger that was quite expensive when purchase. the lady used it only to take the classes on how to use the machine. It has been sitting in the box ever since! I am trading her my spinning wheel that I never use... Someday I may go back to spinning larger amounts of yarn but for now I need a serger! I can use my spindles to spin small amounts of fiber..
I can't wait to get my serger!!! just had to share my blessing!

I just have an old singer, but I do hear lots of good things about SERGERS. SO LUCKY YOU AND START SEWING? Or do you have to take lessons? How does that work?

Ditto what Brenda said!
Read your manual and get familiar with the basics and
you'll be serging everything you can find! LOL

No- the lady who is giving it to me took lessons then never used it. I will forge out on my own :-) I have sewn for years but never on a serger.
I am sooo excited..

Good luck with your new serger! I highly recommend the book "serge with confidence" from Nancys Notions. It has very clear photographs, describes how to stitch each stitch combination and even goes into different threads and uses.

She gave me the book that was mention Serge with Confidence.. So I have been going through it.. I also picked up a couple yards of inexpensive knit fabric at walmart. I have a pair of knit guacho's that I just love but the fabric is worn in places and I would like to make them out of thicker knit.. so I am going to take them apart and use them as the pattern. I figured I would make my first pair out of cheapo knit to get it right then I can get some nicer knit fabric.
I can't wait to get started. Probably won't tackle it until tomorrow.. too much to do today.
