Hey all. I've been busy at work creating dolls to fill an order I got. I decided, however, to take a break and make a doll for ME. Because I'm Catholic, I thought I'd pay homage to my faith and created a nun doll. This is Sister Mary Faustina.....I'm so glad she turned out so well!

Rachel,
She is cute and so HAPPY. Wouldn't a real Rosary work, just a short chain, or a cross neckless? I'm not Catholic, so I may not know what I'm talking about.

I actually sell them now! I have a website and everything. It's http://www.backwoodsjunction.com . I've sold several so far. I have a dozen of them for sale at a store in Lincoln City, IN, which is where Abraham Lincoln grew up. (It's 3 miles away from Holiday World.) I've received several orders so I'm pretty excited! I sell them for $15 each. I'm going to have my webmaster aka my brother put up a "Dolls for sale" page on my website and I'll add them as I make them.

Great! Thanks! I just started my Masters degree so I have less time to sew now...I'm bummed. But I'll fit it in because I'm addicted!

You can get a bracelet type rosary. It isn't a bracelet but is the size of one. They are made to carry in your pocket. Or you could make one with the cross, 3 beads, a rose, and 10 beads. That way it would represent the whole rosary and fit the doll.

Remember me as a rose.

she's so cute .. i used to make a series of dollies called: "good little catholic girls" and (not being catholic myself .. i surely hope i don't offend here) but i would buy 'rosaries' at flea markets and put one on each dolly. my catholic friends adopted them as quickly as i made them. i would think this is o.k. cuz' if you are trying to 'make' one to look like a rosary .. simply use a rosary that someone else has already.

Rachel,
She is so cute!! I am a cradle Catholic and went to Catholic school from K-12 so that surly is a familiar site to me. Sister Mary Faustina.....hummmmm does that ring a bell? Is that from Cheech and Chong, or is it possible I actually had a teacher named that? Seems to me I've heard that before. You did a great job.
