Well, everyone here is safe, but in two days we have had tornadoes and floods. Someone said we got three inches of rain in 20 minutes, altough I don't know where to check.
My back yard was a river overnight. Yesterday I drove home from Parma and ended up driving right through the side of a tornado (although I didn't know it was a tornado at the time! Just that I couldn't see the road and I was hydroplaning a lot!)
Tonight I went out and picked most of the tomatoes that had split from the rain. There were lots of them. and the zucchinis are growing again..... LOL...

I'm glad you made it home safely, Brenda. You must have been terrified, driving through that awful weather.

Good to hear you are okay Brenda. I am in East Central Illinois and we haven't had rain for awhile but just about 100 miles north they have had flooding. I want some rain but not that much thank you.
May God bless those who love the soil,
Patsy

Crazy weather hit the entire Chicago area yesterday afternoon! We had winds of 71 mph -- uprooting trees, tearing the crossing gates off from train/street crossings, wires down everywhere. Edens expressway (I-94) was closed for a time -- flooded! We feel fortunate -- no damage on our property. But one of our customers lost 8 trees, including at least one century-old oak.
I know our fellow midwesterners in Ohio have such masive flooding -- my heart goes out to you all.

We had those same Chicago storms pass through here in NW Indiana too. Flooding & downed lines & trees all over. My husband had to go to Kentucky yesterday, and he said central & southern Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky are sooooo dry! And we've had soooooo much rain here in the northern part of the state--way more than we need! It's amazing what differences there can be in just a hundred miles or so.
More rain and storms are on the way for us again today--hold onto your aprons, girls!
