I am so please as punch with the seeds I got last winter.

Sorry, I ate most of the cool looking cherries. The Purple ones are YUM! but I like the green stripe the best.

Oh goodness, we have had so many already, but we have had ours in the ground (under hoops at first) since March. Mine are already starting to die back! It makes me ready for fall!

Ours are still green! I think you need alot of heat for tomatos!!! We usually get them in Sept! Sept. and Oct. seem to be the warmest months on the Central coast of CA. THEN we get an overabundance!!!

The organic hor'dourve tomato seeds I started in my basement in March have been doing just great. I really love them. They're smaller then a cherry tomato, but are loaded with flavor. I get a bowl full every day from the vines. My father's tomatoes are doing great too. He planted cherry & beefsteak varieties mostly.

MMMMM Elizabeth, I see some green zebras in there! Don't you just love those!? We made a sauce with them last year that was so spicy and tasty, we could stomach it but Grace couldn't...poor kid. Didn't know what she was missing.

I am harvesting the last of ours proabbly today. Too many are getting lost to rot before I can pick them-the vines are dying before they ripen, etc....even though I asm losing a lot, I will have far more than I had last year...

The ones pictured are Cherokee Purple , Goliath (red) , Lemon Boy, Brandyboy(large pink) , Pink girl, and bloody butcher (smaller red). I have several colors & shapes of cherry tomatoes I sell them as a rainbow mix and have sold hundreds of pounds of them this year. Black cherry is my favorite small tomato. Is that a yellow pear tomato? what kind is the grape shaped with a green shoulder? I am always looking for new small cherries to add to the Rainbow mix.

Elizabeth - I am sooooo envious....I planted a huge crop of heirloom tomatoes this year from seeds that I saved, and I tried to save the plants from this horible heat, so I put up a tarp, and it didn't work...the plants are huge, but very few tomatoes. The volunteers that popped up are doing just fine in 100+ degree heat. Next year will be different. I have a great list of the top 20 varieties posted on www.davesgarden.com. You should check it out, very informative site.
Also - I just love the bowl in your first photo. I need a second home to store all my fun bowls and platters! Do you can or freeze? I had great success with my dehydrater making sun-dried tomatoes.
Happy gardening you lucky farmgal you!

Garlic Lady, I have no clue to which ones those are. I got the seeds from http://tomatobob.com/
I do really like the purple grape ones, but my favorites to eat are the red currant. You can see the tiny ones in the first Photo. Those yellowish ones with the green shoulders taste different, but great. What is the best way to save seeds from Year to year... basically what is the best way to dry them? I can dry some and send them to you.

Tasha, We have such a small garden that I never get enough of one kind to make sauce with.... we have had an unusually good tomato summer. But Green zebra sauce sounds wonderful. Maybe I will try to plant mor next year... Yum!

Alee, I dont think yellow tomatoes would make good sauce, since they are so low in acid and have more wet and less meat than other types. I am sure that you can do it, but I just have no idea.

LisaLu,I got my tomato seeds locally... and usually the hotter and sunnier the better for tomatoes. This year the tomatoes got neglected. They maybe got watered every other day when they looked really limp and thirsty, the weeds and viney stuff took over while Bill was in the hospital... half of them out grew their stakes and fell over... and we got more tomatoes this year. And I only weed and pick until I can not stand the mosquitoes any second longer. I may just plant them and let them go next year too.

All of the tomatoes look wonderful! I sneaked one tomato plant in the one sunny spot in our yard...we aren't allowed vegetable plants in the yards as part of the neighborhood covenants...We have had a few GREAT tomatoes from it.

I would like to try some of those green zebras next year. I'll sneak in two plants next year!!

Cherokee purple is my best seller at the farmers market . Each year we have a best tomato contest at our farmers market and each year cherokee purple wins . It is a great tomato! I would like to try zebra next year, I plant some heirlooms and some hybrids. Here we have a lot of diesese problems and we need to have some tomatoes (hybrids) that are more resistant to dieseses.
