I went to the "Mossyrock Blues and Blueberry Festival" over the weekend - small town street fair, and in the very first vendor booth I went up to was a lady spinning and an old man sitting with her. There were baskets of homespun yarn sitting around, and when I touched it, I knew it was alpaca. Just as I touched it, she said "That's alpaca you know." It was wonderful, she had dyed it a variety of colors. And the best part? $5.00 a skein. I bought a whole bag full, but I wish I would have bought it all. My dd bought some too.

I love alpaca! I hadn't knit since I was in college (way long ago), then a "spinning" friend sent me some homespun skeins of alpaca and I couldn't keep my hands off them! That was about 4 years ago and I haven't stopped knitting since.
Enjoy your bounty!

I made a toddler hat today and I was a bit disappointed - into the skein a ways, when I was almost done with the hat, the yarn got kind of funky. It was more like hair, not spun so soft, and had a yellowish tint. But, I finished the hat anyway - it's really soft. Can't beat the price though huh?
