So, if you read my other post on my painting project, you know my front door turned out bright purple. Yesterday i went back to Lowe's and got another quart of paint mixed for the front door - this time "Crabapple Red" . It is the color they show in the picture as the contrast to the two greens that I chose - and it is like you'd expect, a darn barn red color (in the picture). Well, I painted my door today - two coats and it is now mauve, bordering on pink. I don't know if I'm getting the wrong person each time to mix my paint or what the hecks' going on, but I think I'll try one more time - this time I'll go to Home Depot.

Sherri,
You may have to premier your door before you paint anymore because the dark colors can change the new color that you paint over it. Learned the hard way.
Keep going girl.....

Oh Dear! And painting doors isn't a whole lot of fun! I hope you got your money back for the bad paint!

Sherri - I think Carol Sue has hit the nail on the head. The paint underneath can 'bleed through' and change your top color. When I paint a wall, I always get a 'high hiding' primer and give myself a clean slate. I would try that if it was me. It would sure beat sanding the door down and starting over.

The door was white before I started all of this! I'll try the primer, anything to just finish it!

I'm so sorry for your bad door experience, Sherri. If you prime it good this time and you still have a problem, I think I would save all the other colors and see if you can get some money back. Where did you get the paint? I've had pretty good luck with Home Depot.

Oh Sherri,
What a major bummer to go through all that work and have it not turn out right.

I talked to the people at Lowes and they said "Oh, you should have used a grey primer underneath the paint if you were using a shade of red." Might be a good policy when they sell red paint to tell people that, huh?

Wow, Sherri! I didn't know that. Why in the world do they not tell people something that critical??? Shame on them. :(
