Probably due to the summer weather, I've noticed a slight shortage of posts about knitting. Admittedly, I'm not doing a whole lot in this heat, even with air conditioning!

My one project (and I'm trying to limit myself to one at a time) is from the book, Knitting for Peace by Betty Christiansen. It is the Messenger Bag that is knitted and felted. I'm using Patons Classic Wool in mixed greys, and so far its going great. I have the body of the bag done, am working on the flap, and the handle ends are waiting on holders. And if I could figure it all out, I'd post a pic of what I have so far.

Soooo everyone, whatcha knittin'?

It's easy, download your picture in photobucket and use the last code on the list beside it.
I am knitting a gown for preemies babies for our charity!

Knitting?? I've been a knitting fool on vacation! Socks, Socks, Socks (with a bit of lace here and there)!

I was in the Hogwart's sock swap and finished those and shipped them off the day before I left for vacation. I was in the Death by Socks swap and finished those socks the first full day of vacation and shipped them off the next day. I'm in Sockapalooza 4 and have sock #1 done and the cuff, heel and part of the foot done on sock #2--should finish it tonight or tomorrow - this will go in the mail on August 2. I had a pair of "no-brainer" socks that I worked on while we were in the fishing boat when the fishing got dull--I'm working these toe up--one is done and the other is just about 5" into the foot. I'm working on another pair for a farmgirl, and they are turning out very nice, but it will be another week or two before I have enough knitting time to finish them up.

I'm also in the Mystery Stole #3 knitalong, and I started work on that while vacationing, but it is one of those projects that you need peace & quiet to follow charts, place beads, etc., so I only got about 55 rows done on that. I also started a knit lace scarf based on a previous Mystery Stole pattern. Not quite as complex, so I could work on it while the TV was on--got about halfway through this one.

So, knitting is not dead--just smaller and lighter for the summer!

When my daughter had her baby last Saturday, I was so touched when they brought him into her regular room because he had a little handmade knitted white and blue hat on his little head! So, I've been busy this week (when I can) making little hats to give to the hospital as a thank you for the person who took the time to make my little boy one! This way, I feel like I'm "paying it forward!" Susan

kATHY, WHAT ARE NO BRAINER SOCKS? Maybe I could make those. Susan, last time we were down to see my Aunt Glenda, she had a basket by her chair with at least 20 baby hats in that she had ready to give to the newborns at the Hospital in her town. Nice to know that they use them.

I'm finishing the sleeves on a minisweater for 7 y.o. dd, and then I'm starting a short sleeved sweater called Bad Penny for me (free Knitty pattern). I'm sure I won't get it done in time to get much short sleeve weather use out of it, but I have the yarn and it's not a color that will work for anything but spring or summer.

I just put the fringe on my first Prayer Shawl and have 2 more started. Hobby Lobby just put the yarn on sale that dd wants for an afghan, so as of tomorrow afternoon I'll have that started, too.

I love having more than one project going -- I switch from one to the other as the mood strikes

Its great to hear what everyone is working on. I guess I was feeling a bit lonely in my knitting! Anyway, here is the messenger bag I posted about. I admit to feeling a little apprehensive about felting it (I don't know what I expect to happen to it!) but am looking forward to it at the same time!

I love that messenger bag...really neat..I know what you mean..I always feel like holding my breath when felting things..but isn't it a fun surprize???
I am knitting on a dish cloth as a gift right now, and have a pair of brown alpaca socks going for husband. No doubt they won't be done before his birthday in October..so he will get them then. I have so many other projects going at the same time. The yarn is from our own Grace Gerber..who has fabulous stuff on her etsy site!!

I finished two pairs of socks while on vacation, and started a third. The pair I finished was my own pattern (inspired by Nancy Bush) and I have published it on my blog. http://brightmeadowknits.blogspot.com

I entered some knitted items in the county fair, which have to be delivered on Sunday, and they're not done yet! ARRRGH!
At least the child's sweater is 3/4 of the way done, it was for my grandson, but my daughter didn't like the color (it was blue, with lavendar heather), so I stopped knitting. I should be able to finish it by the end of the week if I push. The lady's scarf might have to be scratched, but I might be able to finish a purse too.

You definitely have me interested in that messenger bag! I have been dreaming about making a farmer's market bag that I saw designed by Leigh Radford, I think. Haven't gotten around to it--instead, I am one corner into a new baby blanket over here. Seems everyone in my family is pregnant and the tradition must continue! No new kin emerges without a Berroco Plush blankie for snuggles! In other words, it will be a while before I'm knitting for me...

Live joyfully, deliberately, simply, abundantly.

I have two shawls in progress, a knitted apron, a bag or two and a kitten. (Either loom knit or crochet projects)

I also have a couple of cross-stitch samplers in the works - one for my sister and one for my new farm.

I've got a little cotton dress that I'm hoping to finish before Juniper grows out of it and I need to start a baby blanket for my friend's baby. That is about it. Taking a breather after finishing Kathy's socks from the harry potter sock swap.

Yes, check out Grace Gerber's etsy site. I spin too, so I ordered some fiber from her and it is just fabulous! The colors are just beautiful, and the fiber is top quality too!

I was at Barnes & Noble today at lunch, looking through the Knitting for Peace book, and I almost bought it for the messenger bag pattern! I'll be interested to see how it turns out after you felt it--it looks great now.

Even with triple digit temps, I've started knitting my first mittens. Want to make mittens, scrves, caps for 11 grandkids for Xmas this year and figured I'd better get started on it. So far so good. Trust me I'll yell big time if I get stuck and need one of you to help me out of a jam.

Would also love to learn to knit socks. Anyone have a REAL SIMPLE pattern to learn from?

Made my then furture daughter-in-law a prayer shawl last year for Xmas and she loved it. She told me that people in her office would be so envious.

Peace and love.

Alrighty, I've been away for a bit, but I of course have to chime in here since all I do is knit! I just finished a bright green wooly winter hat for Jackson and also have the following WIPs on the needles:

* socks for me
* socks for Jackson
* sweater vest for Jackson
* shawl for me

Plus about a million other projects queued up and ready to roll as soon as I finish up these. You can never have too much yarn or too many patterns!

Photos on my blog, just posted. Take a look if you like!
