I went out this morning to feed the chickens and one of them was dead and the other chickens had eaten the insides ( YUCK). All the chicks are about 3 months old.

They have plenty of room, lots of food and clean water. There was no apperent illness. The dead chick was a rooster. Any ideas as to what might have happened???? I am at a loss...................

Are you sure it was the other chickens that had eaten the insides? Could it have been from an animal? I am sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the responses and sympathy.

Here is what I do know...

The temperature here is wonderful. Low 80's and low humidity.

The chicken run is covered and we could not see where any animal got into the coop or run...

Needless to say we have made several trips out to visit the chickens today. I am just really glad my visiting grandkids did not go out with me this morning!
