Ok, 12 months ago we sold our lil rancher and bought a colonial about 10 miles away but double the property and double the house. Now don't get me wrong, I love our home.
There was a log home three houses away from my little rancher back in the woods. I love that place. I will see if I can link to the pictures.....
Here is my vent! They put it up for sale YESTERDAY! 
I called my husband, gotta love him and he said, if you want to move again we can check it out. I am just so afraid we would loose on the house we just bought. I mean, all those closing costs we just paid to move again? Am I crazy for even thinking about it? Considering it?

No, you're not crazy! I've learned alot in the last year or so, and one thing I can tell you is that if your heart is telling you this is the right thing AND if you can afford it, follow your heart. Yes, you paid closing costs, etc., and you might have to write those off as a loss, but look at where you'll be in the future. Will you regret missing out on the house more than you'd remember/regret the closing costs?
I hope this makes sense. My advice? Pray, pray with your husband, and go with the answer that gives both of you the most peace of mind and heart.

I don't think you are crazy! If you won't take a loss on your current house or if you can afford a small loss (not sure what you housing market is like) I would say put an offer on it! We all need to have that perfect little spot to call home!

We would most likely take a loss of about $25,000, BUT our mortgage payment would drop alot. The market has changed in our area, BUT when our current home went on the market there was a bidding war over it and 3 people came to my door after we moved in and said, if you ever sell call me. I pulled thier numbers out this morning. Will talk to hubby when he gets home. We are going to look at the log home again, I want to make sure they have taken proper care of the logs. We did look at a couple log homes before we found our current house and the logs were not properly cared for and walls would have needed to be replaced and it was just ugly. Last I remember the house was in great shape and I know the owner is a particular person so it should be fine. I am afraid I will get inside and wind up chaining myself to something until it's mine.
But you are so right, we will definately pray on it. OH my, my old neighbors would die to hear we are coming back. Everytime I visit we just cry becuase we miss each other so much. We buried pets together, helped birth fouls, cows, goats, rescued ducks from a psycho snapping turtle, oh the stories I could share.....not to mention raising our kids together. The thing I miss the most about my old home is my wonderful neighbors. Look I am tearing up again.

So you would be living back by your old neigbors again? How great! I really hope it works out for you! I know that we will probably only move once when we finally get settled! Doug hates moving so I have a feeling that once we buy a house- that will be it forever. So I have to make sure we buy a house in Wyoming that is close to my family! LOL!

I spent some time in prayer this afternoon about this and we are going to wait a bit. Some research showed that all of the log homes listed in our area were on the market for more than 9 months and were reduced by more than $75000 before actually selling.
This home is 2900 sf but only 2 bedrooms. There is a 3rd BR added in the basement but in MD you cannot count it in the listing because it does not have windows. So I think our position at this time is a wait and see and as Susan said, if it is meant to be it will.

Hubby knows my greatest dream when we met was to live in a log home. We almost bought one in TN but I couldn't bring myself to leave my family. We will be driving past that log home this weekend on our way to visit Tim's family.
I don't like moving but this move would still keep our daughter in the same school district so she wouldn't have to start all over again...

Oh yeah I forgot about that! What did you decide? My house has not sold yet and I was all set to be happy staying here and just do some work on it...then I was looking at the realestate ads and saw a smaller house with more land that I just love!!

Well, we have decided to wait a bit and see what happens. They really want too much for it at this point. Even though it is still less than what we have currently. Hubby thinks we should sit tight for 4-5 years and when dd is finished with college sell and move to the mountians of NC / TN. I am all about mountain life! Remember Grizzly Adams?
So we will see what happens......

Property here is very expensive....it is terrible.
So we figure we wait and move someplace where the property is more affordable. And the neighbors are wild.....
ie: deer, bear, raccoon, squirrel, frog, bird, turtle, and all their friends. Preferrable a moose but I don't think I will find that south of here....lol

Lorna, not as expensive as it would be in the Colorado mountains though~put that spread
up in some mountain land here and the price would skyrocket to 1-1.2 million. I think you
have the right idea about NC/TN~probably get lots more for your $$ and beautiful to boot!

| I'm a long way from buying land, but what a wonderful problem! And if you want that cabin, go through all the bs and get it. In 30 years you'll be living and farming anyway, why not be doing it where you like best? |
