very interesting! You can also cut them into strips for rag rugs!

I was going to suggest the napkin idea...or how about just some wash cloths or dust rags. You could even cut them up and make them into in a pinch diapers or baby wipes or baby slings (you would probably need a few for that though.) If they are too raggedy you could probably use them in a garden for keeping weeds down.
thats all i have.

I tend to use them (cut open into a big flat piece) to cover my plants in late summer when frost threatens..I have quite a collection now! Old sheets get used for the same, or tablecloths for camping.

If they are not too bad, I store smaller quilts in them.

if they have any crocheted edgings i cut those off and remake a pillowcase to put them on. also if they have a pretty embroidery i use it on a homemade apron as a pocket or in a garment, like a nightgown or house dress as an embellishment. i cant do some of this fine work, ie crochet, embroidery, but i sure do appreciate it and dont mind extending the life of the handiwork into another life, kinda like reincarnation for crafting. the motto for our crafting business here at the farm is"angeltree farms, where no scrap is left behind!"
