Where do y'all suggest I go online to shop for a baby sling and what brands do you suggest? I live in the middle of nowhere and so these aren't something you can run out and buy. Thanks for any and all advice. |

I bought one with my last child... www.mayawrap.com (If that's not it, google mayawrap). I absolutely love it. And it comes with a dvd to show you how to use it, and all the different carry positions you can wear your baby.
Good luck! Kim in NC |

One of our very own Farmgirls was featured in the latest MaryJane book "MaryJane's Stitching Room" Rebekka was featured on page 62. She does a great job- her slings are so nice! And when you buy a sling, you also get a pattern on how to make your own. Her website is www.bebebella.com

Hi Ashley.......there are plenty of resources online for you to make your own sling. Try www.thebabywearer.com for tons of tips/links. If you need help and would like to sew your own, please let me know......I make slings and sell them online and in some of our "frou frou" baby shops around town. www.organicherbalmamas.com My hubby is the webmaster, and of course, my site gets last priority. All the slings are sold and I primarily sew for store orders and customs now. My slings are *very* lightly padded or not at all.....depending on your preference. Shoot me an email, I'll help you make your own or I'd be happy to sew up one for ya.

Ashley- I am so glad you are looking for a sling to carry your baby, they really are sooo helpful for both you and your little one. I make pouch style slings that are custom fit and include a pattern for your personal use in both organic and conventional cottons. this way you can make more for you and for friends as well! You can see my slings by going to our website and etsy store or find the article about them up in Mary Jane's Stitching Post book. I have been shipping slings to farmgirls all over the country and I so enjoy talking to all of them- what wonderful customers they all are;)
Here is what I like to tell people about my slings...
THE BABY SLING Though all of our creations are special the sling is the star of the show. My slings are designed simply for easy use, made with beautiful fabrics and the babies love them! Our babies need to feel our warmth and breath, and we need to take care of those needs while still getting things done. Babies who are carried in slings spend more time in a quiet alert state; this allows them to spend less time fussing (because they are comfortable) and more time learning about their world. My slings include a pattern so you can make more for personal use, this way you can match slings to your moods and make gifts for friend’s baby showers!
Your sling will be custom made to fit you, or I can send it along ready to be altered- this is a very easy step. Measure from the top of one shoulder to the upper side of the opposite hip, in inches this should be between 25 and 30.
Thanks Alee for letting Ashley know about the slings!
Warmly, Rebekka www.bebebella.com www.bebebella.etsy.com

I loved my Maya Wraps! They can be a bit pricey but are worth every penny in my book! Plus hubby didn't mind wearing it either and it was comfy - not so hot as the padded ones!
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!
