Hi Ladies! The back-to-school supplies sales are starting and I just wanted to share some things this grandma does to take advantage of them.
My grandkids live to far away to send them supplies (used to when they were small) but I still collect a lot of the really inexpensive ones (glue for 9cents, notebooks for a dime, etc) and then find a local school that is struggling financially and give the supplies to them. Teachers have enough problems paying for their room's supplies as it is.
I also use these sales to stock up on what I will need for the year ahead so when I need a notebook, I've just got to go to my stash instead of the store.
I'm very grateful for these sales as it gives kids a chance to have what they need for school. Education is our best tool for the future.
Farmgirl hug, Patricia

That is a great idea Patricia. I didn't know until a few years ago that teachers end up buying most of what they use in the class room out of their own budgets! And I also know that most teachers don't make a whole lot of money. So I am sure donations are always appreciated!

I spend close to 1000.00 a year buying supplies for my classroom! My husband teaches too. We can make an annual deduction of 200.00 each though so that helps a little bit.

My Aunt and my Dad were teachers. They are both retired now, my Aunt as of this last year. Yes, it is amazing how much they spent on supplies every year, they loved their kids and their gifts were teaching. Thanks for the reminder. Good job teachers!!!!!!!
Enjoying the moments. |
