starting out easy quilted place mats. The only other thing I have ever quilted before were some baby blankets 20 years ago. This project isn't even close to flawless...but they are cute and I hope to improve

Hi MaryAnn,
I love the chickens. You did a great job. I am just now quilting again. My dad moved in and there went my craft room. My son has since moved out and I have a room again!

Thanks Cheryl. My second one came out with the pieces a bit better matched but I have a long way to go to make these look professional..ha ha! I am making four total two with chicken and two plain...so two more "practices". I am using fleece batting in between the two layers. I guess it is really important to get those squares the exact same size so when you line up the strips the seams meet

I love imperfections in any art form, that's what gives 'em character, and besides after all, we are not perfect. eh!
I like your color choice, makes me want Autumn to hurry up and get here....

How cute! I was thinking about fall too when I saw them. Reminds me of apple picking time and homemade pies and applesauce. Glad you are having fun with it!

Oh I love your placemats MaryAnn! They are cute and I think you did a great job.

Sheryl-lyn,
Talking about all that makes me want Autumn to hurry and get here! It is my very favorite time of year but never seems to last long enough.

They are lovely MaryAnn! My stuff is NEVER flawless, but I love to quilt anyways!

I like your placemats. The fabric you chose, and the colors too, go well with the slightly primitive quality. All work together to be really charming! Nice job! When a quilt is too perfect, it somehow lacks warmth and the human touch.

Denise: I love fall too. The only problem is that since I am a teacher, that is when I have to leave home and go back to work. My dh and I go for walks every weekend and I make applesauce for weeks. I do love it all, even the going back to work part I guess!
