I have some old picture frames that the previous owner stripped. I want to paint and then sand them a bit so they look a bit shabby. I know nothing about paint types, so what should I use?

Patti -- just regular latex paint is fine. I usually use semi-gloss or satin for my shabby projects -- just don't use flat. I even go to Home Depot and buy the $5 a gallon cans that people ordered and returned. They've never been used -- the colors might have been wrong, person didn't like it, etc. It's a great way to get get quality paint at a cheap price.

Another question I just thought of. Should I use a primer first?

You really only need primer if you are going from a dark color to a light color. Sometimes two or three coats work just as well.

Jewelry, art, baskets, etc.
