I will be celebrating my birthday on the 2nd of July....I never get in the middle of the firework scene...I'm praying for no fires in our mountains for this 4th....We are in an Exceptional drought which is the status a step above Extreme...
There is a ban on using anything other can firecrackers and other stuff tht doesn't get shot into the air..Of course, you know how some folks ingore all warnings
We are at almost a 20 inch deficit in rain for the years which means it has barely rained...It is a dust bowl even though it looks lush...if a fire started it would spread quick.

Have safe travels, everyone! Stephanie ... I am wishing no fire crackers and gentle rains! One of my dogs is really troubled by firecrackers/storms - so the 4th is a challenge for us. He is 100 pounds ... and when he gets scared ... O BOY! hugs, Kary

Working on the house (again :)), but that's alright with me. We're making such progress! Will take photos of the rooms to show a little progress maybe.

We're celebrating the 4th with a bunch of friends on Sunday night. For the actual 4th our family will probably be helping set up the barn for my brother's wedding reception that is on the 7th.
Have a good time ladies :)

Not really sure yet - happy that hubby is home this year and not in Iraq! Last year we didn't see fireworks either but we were at Family Camp at Forest Home ( would like to be there!). Hubby is acting 1Sgt this week so we can't go far, but JC has a carnival, bands and fireworks, and a parade. Wamego has a parade too. So we'll probably go to one of the parades and then to the fireworks - not sure what we'll do in between. We usually try to read the Declaration every year but it's packed. Praying for our troops.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Thanks Kary
I think it was when I acquired livestock (dairy goats) that I really started disliking all of the fireworks....oh, they would be just scared to death! It was awful.. this last time I had the goats I had several neighbors that were close enough for it to really be a problem...so I understand about your doggie being afraid...I think most animals know how dangerous they are.

Our town of 430 people has a parade every year complete with the fire departments vehicles and forest service vehicles, bicycles, 4 wheelers and some flat bed trucks, no real floats UNTIL THIS YEAR WHEN THE MOUNTAIN FARMGIRLS OF IDAHO CITY will have our float with hundreds of tissue flowers we have been creating. We are going to have a Queen and a Princess farmgirl on the float with a halo of real flowers instead of a crown. We are tossing out our original seed packages we created called "Bless the Bees- Sow seeds for a better life" with a wildflower seed mix.
We have farmgirls that will be on the float, riding bicycles and 4 wheelers.
We are going to have a great deal of fun and I will post pictures after the parade.
We are never alone in the forest of Sisters! We "Mountain Farmgirls" are outstanding in our field! |

Rose-
What fun! I hope someone takes pictures! I would love to see how the float goes! If I had the travel budget I would come down and cheer you on!

Rose!! I love your idea!!!! What fun! Our little town does the 4th up really big. We are lucky to be on the same street as the city park so the parade goes right past our house..so we usually have a yard full of friends and relatives in lawn chairs to watch it go by...lotsa tractors and kids on bikes for the most part..then stuff going on at the park all day long...and the best fireworks show ever that night at the fair grounds on the edge of town. I can hardly wait!

My family lives on the other side of the mountains in WAshington, our small church gets together and has a major picnic. That and fun games for the kids. It is part of my family and it makes it good. DD and SIL and granddaughters go there too, so it makes it fun. Then we come home and laze around. Fireworks unlawfully unless you go see the major productions. Tooooo dry.
Enjoying the moments. |
