COME SPEND TODAY WITH ME ...

i slept late today .. didn't roll my body out of the bed until noon-time!
all that shoppin' with miz robin yesterday plumb tuckered me out ..
ha! not to mention that i stayed up until about 3 a.m. reading my new book about
Janice Holt Giles!

honey hunk is on his Bike Virginia trip this week . sooo . i'm 'home alone' ...
well, not exactly .. cuz' cabin and creek are here to keep me company!

had coffee on the back porch lookin' over my birdfeeders and sunflowers that get taller every day .. no 'sunny fleurs' just yet though!

i'm sure i've mentioned that SUNFLOWERS are about my mos' fav'rit fleur .. i adore their big bright yaller shinin' faces! and love sharing the seeds with all ya'll!!

i caught mr. squirrel digging them up and feasting on them not too long ago .. sooo .. every few days i plant a bunch more for HIM and TO GROW!

and i'm sure the bunnies have their share in the evening hours when i am inside!

got on 'la computer' for a little bit to try and start matching up partners in all these fun new swaps i've conjured up!

then the phone rang and it was my darlin' daughter, wednesday .. with a most
delicious sound of "ya-ya-ya-ya' in the background .. little miz sofia .. was joining in on our conversation! ahhhhhhhh .. a real little woman in the making!

after our fun conversation and with a big smile on my face .. i headed for the gardens .. to water them .. but all the while .. with the rumbling of thunder surrounding me!
i know it's going to rain (finally! we sure need all we can get!) but 'just in case' .. i gave all my little thirsty ones a drink of water!

then i ran to get my camera to take some photos of our little wonderland down here in the holler ..

lotsa squash and zucchinni blooming .. and my little bucket of basil.
yes!!! i think BASIL is my mos' fav'rit herb!!!

supper tonight!
friend carol told me not to let these veggies get so BIG though ..
sez they are much 'tenderer' when they are about 6 to 8 inches long!

these guys just snuck up on me when i wasn't lookin'!

geeeesh .. these look more like cucumbers!!

but i'll be watchin' over the next days for this little guy
to grow another few inches .. then .. PLUCK!

have a few plants growin in our olde tin 'cowboy bathtub' ..
planted lots of 'wildflower' seeds in here too and they
are peeking their heads through the soil! can hardly wait
to have a 'cutting garden'!
that's the outdoor 'shower deck' in the background!

more sunflowers .. i have these scattered here and there
whereever there is sun shining!

have a few 'potted plants' scattered about too!
don't even know what they are .. but they shur are purty to look at!

n'uther one!
i put a potta' marigolds in the middle of this
little basket of fleurs!

never overlook a 'prim' container for your primitive gardens!
got this for a buck last year ... painted red impatiens in it
cuz' it's under the shade of a tree .. leaning up against a fence
with grapes growin' on it!

a few grape clusters this year ... we had such
a dry springtime .. that we did not get .. no .. not even ONE ..
teensy blueberry or cherry .. and we usually have tons!
i think these grapes to be sour for eating .. but our neighbor tells me they make mighty fine wine!

my new 'mos' fav'rit spot to be!
under the apple trees .. in the hammock .. surrounded by
pots of red impatiens and hanging plants.
little 'country-style tea table is nearby for impromptu picnics!

got this idea from friend, lynn ann in ohio ..
she uses 'olde pulleys' to stagger hanging plants on!
got this big wire hook hanger in ohio .. been on a
'pulley' hunt ever since returning .. now have about
six or seven ov 'em!!!

also .. never throw away a broken olde chair .. they make
great 'seats' for potted plants!!!

our hammock .. big enough for TWO
honey hunk and i often find ourselves snuggled here together!

and i put the little 'table' beside it to hold a big pitcher of iced tea!

also have a humming bird feeder under the tree!

an olde fish bait bucket holds more impatiens!

a little junky one dollar table holds this 'cookin' pot
(it's metal .. and i just gave it a bright coat of red paint and
hammered holes in the bottom!)
cute little ladder leaning against the apple tree behind it!

another fun planter .. an olde 'lawn clippin' cart!

love this olde green and mustard plow and basket fulla' fleurs!

great olde shabby shutters waitin' to be 're-purposed'
meanwhile .. they look good just leaning against the fence.

'ole man tree .. smilin' down on me!

hammock looks down at the little red shed and another
quiet 'sittin' spot!

and behind the hammock on the 'red schoolhouse' ..
is my year-round tribute to AMERICA!!!

the rains have started .. thunder still beatin' drums in the distance ..
and other than the sound of the laughter of our children and grandchildren ..
there is no more peaceful sound than rain on a tin-roof!!
gonna' go eat a sammich on the porch .. and read a few chapters of my GILES book!

..........

more pictures of my 'sunday' coming soon!

xo, frannie
