In regards to the poor baby raccoon messages, I thought I would start a new one in response!

My Throughbred mare had 2 tooth repulsions between Nov 2004 and Feb 2005. During that time, we did not use peroxide and as it damages the new growth and impairs proper healing. It is recommended that betadine or betadine scrub (concentrate) be used. It is an antiseptic and does not irriate the skin. It comes in liquid form, as well as handy swabs. As a rule of thumb, I do rinse the area after cleaning the wound. I follow with either a triple anitbiotic ointment or a product called Corona Ointment http://www.coronaproducts.com/Pages/firstaid.html

I hope this helps all those in need of a little barnyard buddy TLC!
