ArmyWifey- I'd like to thank you for the mention of Ron Paul, who I hadn't heard was running before reading your post. I am still looking into his stance on issues and his voting record, but so far, I'm impressed!!! (Of course the question is always whether that is a predictor of how candidates would vote while in office, but what else can you do?)
Thank you, thank you!

Who knows who will make it to the finish line? Sadly, the best candidates can't always raise enough $ to get there. I feel sorry for whoever our next president will be. That person has a monumental task in front of them after this administration. I don't know if 4 years will be enough to pull our country out of this world mess we're so mired down in. My faith in our political system has been greatly shaken with this current administration. Everyone needs to get out there and let their voices be heard. Vote at every election and pray we get it right!

I can't say much about your election, girls, but I will be the happiest person in the world if John Howard is finally voted out (after the longest 11 years of my life!!) at the election here this year. I can't believe he has been our Prime Minister since before the birth of all my children! I am hoping his type of politics has finally run its course and Australia can get onto a more caring, less money at all costs agenda. Best wishes, Jayne |

| I'm always nervous to post anything political here! But I have very strong feelings about the war and the currrent administration too. I think we are ready for a change. I'd love to see a woman in the white house. Someone with a mothers heart maybe wouldn't be so quick to go to war....Please don't take offense anyone.... |

Hello Jo, I have been wondering how you are going up there? I am loving my sourdough book - it is great! Sorry to get off the topic here - I'll just add 'down with John Howard', especially yesterday after his Minister for Defence said out loud that the reason for our continued presence in the Middle East is to secure oil - at least they are finally owning up to what we have all known for a long time. It just makes me sick that politicians can play with peoples' lives like that and do it so dishonestly. OK, political rant over - you should have heard me talking to the TV last night!! Jo, are they still talking about the new oil exploration in Alaska?Best wishes, Jayne |

I am usally a Democrate but if Fred Thompson runs I will vote for him. While in high school him and his girlfriend got pregnant. They married and stayed married a very long time. If he would do the right thing then I hope that means he would do the right thing in other ways.

This has been an interesting thread. I don't remember who was talking about voting other parties, green, libertarian, etc...I had voted Haglin (natural law party) and then Nader in 2000 but I have to admit, I never thought that Bush would actually win (or not really win but still become president). Now I am a little afraid to vote that way. I feel like there is so much damage control to do now after this administration....I guess I need to really start doing my research. I do agree with Catherine, I don't think having a woman for president could hurt the way the world sees us. Honestly, how could our foreign relations get any worse? So far, I do like Obama as well. I'll have to check out Ron Paul, don't know him. But if Gore does jump in, that is probably where my vote will go. The environmental issues are very close to my heart and we've done so much damage and it is time to really step up!
oh, hi Jayne, your package is almost ready to send!

I have not decided who I will vote for...I have been thinking about Obama, Richardson, or Edwards. I have noted that several people have stated that Obama does not have enough experience. Does anyone remember back in 2000-2001 that it was touted over and over that the Bush Administration had the most people in it with the most experience and that would be good for the nation? That is certainly food for thought.
Maybe we need fresh new ideas and backgrounds. For me, I want someone who I feel will look at problems from ALL sides, ask for advice from MANY different sources and then make the very best decision possible, given the particular circumstances. I don't need someone with whom I agree all the time, but I do need someone who I know is intelligent, thoughtful and willing to admit mistakes.
