Hi Ladies! In about 36 hours, Nora and I will be getting on an airplane to go to Wyoming by way of Billings Montana. Any suggestions for her first airplane ride? Should I be concerned about her ears popping?

Thanks!

Alee

Nurse her on take off and landing - that will help her ears to adjust as necessary. If you aren't comfy doing that than take a pacifer & or a bottle you can fill with water/weak tea/weak juice after you get through security. She may have no issues but you will be prepared - although sometimes nothing works these usually are the best help for a wee one. If she's asleep don't wake her.

Make sure you pack your bag well with diapers, wipes, at least two-four outfits for her, snacks for you, and maybe a change of a shirt for you, a big ziploc bag for dirty clothes. Just in case you get stuck anywhere or you luggage is delayed.

Have fun!

I rarely have diaper leaks, but it seems our first plane trip she had one every time I turned around! lol I now bring at least 4 changes of clothes. Personally because I cloth diaper (I know you do too). And they take a lot more room in a diaper bag then disposables. I found it easiest to pack one piece clothing items. (things with several pieces take up too much room in the diaper bag, especially if you have to switch planes!) The first time the diaper bag was way over stuffed and heavy etc. So I've learned! lol I take at least 4 but up to 6 pj's! lol I can dress her in "real" clothes once we get there. I learned the first time packing tons of "outfits" was a big mess, too much room in the diaper bag, and very difficult to change them in awkward places as well, when you are trying to get on like 3 piece outfit! lol And they are just going to be messy on the plane any way-leaking diaper, spit up, milk going every where! lol haha Also.....I wouldn't "dress up" for the plane trip either. I did that the first time and I had milk, poop, pee, and spit up from head to toe when we finally got there, I would have been better in yoga pants and a tee shirt! lol haha

Any way, my Lela is 9 months and so far has been on 12 plane rides......so this is my experience! lol

Also bring a couple of "small" very small toys if she is into them yet. At your babies age, mine liked a small stuffed bambi. :)

Also I would pack snacks! Only Continital (sp) serves food any more. Unless you are fine eating only pretzels, or a granola bar if you are lucky, I pack snacks! I tried the first couple of times running through the air port looking for food and nearly missing my connection, and spending a arm and a leg! lol Now I pack snack bars (slim fast and fiber one are my favs). And I also bring a small lunch bag cooler, with at least 2 of those South Beach Diet lunchable type things. I really liked the turkey cranberry salad last time, and I like the seasme chicken wraps a lot too. Two of them make a filling meal! (one is not enough calories for any one especially a breast feeding mom to live on-under 300 and usually closer to 200!). But, two are perfect, and more then enough and I fill good about the choice along with not spending all my money and rushign through a airport for it!
