A few weeks ago the 96 yr old neighbor lady called our house because she had fallen down and couldn't get back up. She wasn't hurt, so she didn't want to push her panic button around her neck and cause the ambulance to come out. So my 3 yr old daughter came with me to help her up.
The lady made my daughter a blanket to show her appreciation. So tonight we went to pick it up. I tried to make my 5 yr old ds stay home with dad, but he insisted on going because he wanted to see the inside of her house. So on the way over I gave them a lecture about talking loud and saying thankyou, the usual stuff. When she saw my son she wanted to make him a blanket too.
She had to get a book to write down the colors he wanted and as she stood up to hang on to her walker my son went over and took hold of her arm and "helped" her all the way to the kitchen.
I think it is my proudest mom moment so far. My heart is just beaming.

what a great story. I can feel how proud you are. They sure do learn by example. Give him a good hug just for being himself. MB

Yes I too think that was very sweet of your son. Sounds like you have great children, That poor lady probably likes you and your kids to visit for whatever reason and her making blankets gives her meaning to keep going. It is wonderful you have such a sweet neighbour and you are a good neighbour.

Shannon, what an endearing story and what darling children you have! You are teaching them to love and respect others, especially the elderly. Keep up the good work Mommy!

Hugs,
