...but how do you know how much thread to cut off for your length of project? This Knitter isn't used to having to decide how much thread/yarn is needed before starting in, because I just pick up a skein and go. But when embroidering blanket stitch around the perimeter of something, there has to be a formula for how much thread you need to make it around.

I just finished a small sachet with barely one inch of thread left (whew!). Does anyone know the formula? Or do you just snip some thread off, set in and tie off/start a new piece when needed? (Obviously, I'm trying to avoid that for these small projects...)

Thanks for the help, Stitchers!

Catherine

p.s. If I wasn't already so gung-ho on knitting, I would make it my mission to blanket stitch everything. There's something about this stitch that I just adore!
