Hi everyone. I just found the latest MJF magazine and I felt like I had found home. I have been reading the website and I am still learning how it works. Just to let you know I am a soapmaker and dabble in everything farmgirls like; gardening, sewing, knitting, spinning, weaving, goats, chickens, alpaca, cooking, etc. I desperately want land to pursue my interests, but where I live it's overpriced and since I am a beach native most other areas are too cold for me in the winter. If anyone has suggestions about reasonably priced land in warm climates I would love to hear about them. Thank you, Jennifer

Welcome
You'll enjoy the forum, I sure do.
I'm sure someone will find you an area with land not so expensive.

Welcome Jennifer..I grew up in Arroyo Grande..up north of you and had relatives in Ventura for years (they retired to No. CAlif. now)and liked visiting there. We were right at the beach too (Pismo) so I understand what you are saying. I am not a heat lover though, so I enjoy the seasons.
You sound like you have the same interests as most of us..I think you are going to fit right in!! Do you have animals now??? What do you like to knit most..I mostly knit socks. I wish I could help you with land suggestions. If you are open to Utah..there is inexpensive land near St. George..which is at the edge of the desert and never gets very cold. Gets REAL hot though. We had friends in Calif who moved there and love it and the house they bought was way bigger than the one they sold and was 1/3 the price...more land too. Cedar City is also very nice and just a little cooler and prettier in my opinion.

Hey Jennifer I lived in LA for 4 years and I was dying to get out of the city. I now live in Humboldt county CA about 12 hours north of you. It's absoluetly beautiful out here. And there is still a good amount of rural land left up here. It's foggy a lot and it rains a whole lot more the Ventura but it doesn't get very cold, not ever cold enough for a winter jacket. We have dry summers and rainy winters. I live in northern Arcata about a mile from the beach and about a mile from the redwood forests. You should come up and check it out. And welcome!!!

Blessed Be

I can't believe this. I haven't been able to figure out how to post the quick reply because I wasn't scrolling down far enough. I thought I was crazy.

Melissa, I love the Humbolt area. I know my search will take me up there, but we have so many realtives down here I'm pretty sure we won't go so far north. As for the soap scents, I will e-mail you about the EOs I have.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!
