I've been interested in drawing up my "dream plans" for planning the homestead we'd like to have in a few years. I would love to be able to grow our own wheat for flour, but have no idea how much of a yield one can expect from a quarter acre, half acre, etc., and then how many pounds of wheat it takes to produce a pound of flour. Anyone know? I've tried googling and found nothing.
um..5 lb. of wheat makes 5 lb. of flour. A 1 gallon size can usually holds about 8 to 10 lb. wheat. A 5 gallon bucket is about 40 lb. if I remember right.
Ha, of course it's that simple-- 1 pound wheat = 1 pound of flour. :-) I always make numbers more difficult in my head, but it seems so obvious now since it's just being ground and nothing is being taking away...
