We’ve been given access to a unique antique lace collection. The owners have asked that some of the pieces be sold and that some of them get put into archival storage for a future lace museum to be constructed here at my farm.
Our dear friend Alee has offered to research the value of each piece. The more expensive pieces, like rare tapestries, she’ll offer for sale on E-bay but boxes and boxes of it will go on sale here under our very own Farmgirl Barter.
She’ll be posting photos of everything from tiny bits of handmade bobbin lace (good for scrap booking and mail art) to vintage white drop-dead gorgeous tablecloths, dresses, tatted shawls, crazy quilt squares, etc. In between all that, we’ll be selling the occasional hat or antique trade card that we find as we work our way through countless boxes.
What better stewards of such a find than farmgirls!
Make sure you visit Alee’s antique LINEN BOOTH right here under Farmgirl Barter. She’ll announce her grand opening soon! |

Ladies-
I am so excited about this project. Going through these boxes is like Christmas morning! You never know what we are going to see and we have seen some amazing things already! We have some fun things to offer to you! For those of you who have the "The Stitching Room", MaryJanes newest book, you will know there is a section on Crazy Quilts in there. Well we have some AMAZING Crazy Quilt squares to offer to you today. I have had some local Quilt experts looking at them. Some of them could be as early as 1887-1890 because of some dated ribbons that are sewn in. The best guess is that these date anywhere from 1880-1930ish. They are truly antique and beautiful! We have enough that if someone wanted to buy the whole lot they could piece it together to make a quilt or they will make great wall hangings, pillows or whatever! On some of the pieces the fabrics are getting a bit fragile because of their age. If you need help knowing how to care for these items, please email me and I can help guide you in the right direction.
So after this post, I will post some pictures of items with numbers below them. We are going to do "Make me an Offer"/"Silent Auction" so email me an offer and after a week I will post who won the item. You will also be responsible for shipping expenses which I will keep to a minimum unless you specifically ask that it be rushed.
I hope you all are as excited as I am. I might take me just a few minutes to re-size the photos so they won't dominate the forum :)

Okay Ladies- I started a new topic called "Alee's Linen Booth" so I can let you know by the topic name when new pictures are posted. So we are now open! Yay!
I will also post links to the Ebay auctions when they start so you all can have a chance at those items as well!

Hey Mima!
Vintage goodies count for the Buy Nothing Summer if YOU want them to! You set your own rules. I have allowed myself one yarn purchase this summer when I visit my inlaws in upstate NY, so I don't see why you can't allow yourself a purchase of vintage goodies! I also can't wait to see this linen booth. What treasures!
