Greetings to you all! I am taking a break from cleaning my clogs of chicken poo, straw and shavings.. I had a major date with my hen houses today! ahhhh feels good to have a handle on it!
If you haven't read Dana's account of farm fair, I highly recommend it. An excellent read and one that truly captured the spirit of the fair. Thanks Dana and LOVELY to meet you!
I was nervous as all get out to be a vendor at this thing. The energy was just incredible! The other vendors were so warm and welcoming to me, which I appreciated being so completely new to the scene. I didn't have a great set-up, which is something I learned and will do differently next time. Props are key and I had very few. I was pretty successful overall..met all kinds of amazing people and was really really moved by how real all of MaryJane's staff is. I've never been in an environment where I've met people for the first time who I feel I've known for years and years. They all have this disarming openness and friendliness that is intoxicating!
Toward the end of the day, MaryJane came down to the tent. She has an ethereal quality about her; something that is difficult to articulate. She oozes someone who seems completely comfortable in her own skin and really likes her skin as a matter of fact. Its grand to be in the presence of people who truly celebrate themselves, and their uniqueness. MaryJane bought several things from my display including my all time favorite dress! I didn't tell her that at the time, I was too busy trying not to be a complete star-struck dork! BUT she did buy my favorite dress that I made while visiting my family in Georgia this past May. Very cool! She also bought a really sweet, sunny dress for a little girl.. another dress that was a favorite. I felt that I had a kindred spirit! I watched her "work" the tent. She visited with every vendor and I'm convinced bought something from everyone. It was a real gift. I had a ball. The intimacy of the entire environment is something I hope will be an enduring thing, but I'm not sure that's possible! Enjoy your day, farmgirls.. off to do more chores!
many smiles, Julia

You know - I have read several accounts of people meeting MaryJane.....and the same effect is had by all. God has given her a true gift. And she is using it. A very rare thing, but always immediately recognizable to all but the people who have it.

P.S. Julia, I want a dress, too! I love dresses.

How exciting, Julia that you had such a wonderful time at the fair, being a vendor, meeting MaryJane (I'm jealous!). Gosh it just gets me that much more excited for Farm Fair next year!!

I simply love dresses! I don't like tight clothing. With RA and Fibromyalgia I love dresses that look nice and fit loose! It sounds like you should start making more for next years gathering! Have fun and God bless! Susan
