OK...I think I saw this on Sara Snow's tv show, where she talked about taking a few teaspoons of your local honey daily and soon it will decrease your local allergies.

I used to do this as a child and it seems to work. I may get back into as my sneezing has kicked up a notch and I hate constantly taking medicine. Thanks for the reminder!!!

You know what..I have a 5 gallon pail of local honey in the cellar and should bring some up and start using it. I have been using up smaller containers (not local) first..and that really isn't neccessary. I love that honey keeps so well. Thanks for the reminder Peg!

This makes perfect sense, and frankly, I've about had it with all the other allergy meds and such I've been pumping into myself this season. I guess since I've been out in the yard more, I'm really suffering.
Me thinks I'll get some this weekend at market.

Usually it's within 40 miles of your home. I need some! Haven't been able to locate a source in the Fort Riley/Salina/Abilene area. I think I also need bee pollen and royal jelly.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Armywifey...have you tried a health food store (if you've got one nearby?) I went to Clifton Whole Foods and they have several different local honeys...all within our 40 mile loop.
I've been taking a tsp. full every am! Did notice a difference yesterday when we went hiking in the Boone Cliffs Forest. Normally, I would have been a wreck about an hour afterward, but this time, not so bad!

well they did have some so will try to start with that. No real bee pollen though. Worries me a bit with the current bee problems!

Holly-glad you found something that you can at least try. Scary, isn't it, about the lack of bees?
I noted, too, that you mentioned Ft. Riley areas...my father spent his training there during WWII, after he was drafted. I still have his letters on the Ft. Riley, Kansas letterhead...I have to say, I don't believe he was a "fan"  Hope the area is better now than when he was there is 1944!

He he ....well most people aren't real fans of their training posts!
Fort Riley is a lovely, historic post and a nice place to be stationed. However right now it's really hard to find housing!

Peg, thanks so much for the link! I have heard a little of this before. I bought some local honey yesterday from about 15/20 miles away. He says to start b4 allergy season, but I'm hoping it helps us all out now!
