i'm SO excited!!! i'm a newbie farmgirl... and this is the first year that i've sewn anything directly in the ground without first starting it inside or buying starter plants.... we planted corn & sunflowers 10 days ago and "heavens to betsy" there are 1-2 inch sprouts in garden!!! we have a couple of death-wishers though... i'm sure they mean well, but our little old lady neighbor, katherine and my daddy have both said, "well, i hope the crows & rabbits don't get to them before they take off"... death wishers!!! 
we live on a fairly busy highway and i'm sure the people passing by got a good laugh when they saw me doing the sproutlet dance in the garden... i'm SO happy!!! woo woo woo woo!!!

I love that feeling! My garden is half and half this year. Carrots, lettuce and peas were all planted before I went into labor and they are growing wonderfully now. Unfortuanly the cabbage never sprouted. I had to buy pre-started tomatoes and I did start my sunflowers inside. However my corn and squashes and pepper plants will be sewn outside if I ever get a chance to go dig up my second garden plot ;)
Congrats on your sewn-in-the-ground seedlings!

Ignor the deaath wishers.....& continue doing your happy dance by the road,,,,motorists will be so busy watching you & giggling that they won't have time for road rage, heck, maybe they will put down their cell phones too!
We need to cultivate 2 types of gardens,,,one filled with bountiful foods & the other with bountiful joy sprinkled with laughter.
So, dance away girlfriend!
