For all of you Beekeeping Farmgirls out there. You will appreciate this.
I saw a swarm today and tried to catch it but they got away.
I put two neat pictures up on my weblog.
Do any of you keep bees? I used to when I lived in TX. I have not had any since we had Lainey. She is 3 now, I may have to start again.

Wow! Awesome pictures! I've never seen anything like that either. But I think it would freak me out if I really did.

How neat. I would dearly love to keep bees! (if only I wern't allergic..dang it all!) I think they are so facinating! Youngest daughter did a "Jr. Genius project on honey bees and we visited a friend who keeps bees. I loved learning about them with her. I loved your pictures too!

Hi Lindy. Your blog is one of my favorites! We keep bees on our farm. We have 7 hives this year and hope that they survive so that we can harvest the honey. Last year we lost our 2 hives. We love our bees and they work hard for us at Bee Haven Acres. It is because of them that we have wonderful blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, and apple harvests...not to mention the corn and veggies. I have never seen a swarm like the one you photographed!

Keep Smiling.....Bev

Beautiful photo, Lindy. I miss all the wild honeybees that were living in the walls of my farmhouse when we first bought it.

Nothing is so beautiful as a swarm in a (low) tree! I usually get a couple calls a year to capture swarms.

I'm allergic to their stings also so I tend the hives in full bee gear. Before I go out to the apiary, I let someone know and I have to check in every 15-20 minutes or they come looking for me. My Epi-pen is kept in my pocket.

This year I'm trying small cell foundation in one of my hives. Every year, the girls teach me something new. I love going out to the apiary and just watching them fly in and out of the hive.
