UPDATED: The mailing deadline for the first batch of folks is June 23rd. Those that joined later have decided upon their own deadlines with their partners.

Original message:
Due to the success of the first swap, I have been asked to start a second doll swap.

Pics of the first swap are located here... http://dollswap.homestead.com/index.html

The first round of partners have already been sent out, but we are keeping this list open in case anyone else wants to join in. There is NO DEADLINE FOR SIGNING UP now, and you can swap with as many folks as you want, provided you follow through and meet any negotiated deadlines.

This is how it will work - if you want to swap a doll, just make a post saying so. We'll ask if anyone else wants in, or if anyone who is already involved wants to make another doll. Then we'll match you up with someone, or you can match yourselves up - just let me know who is partnered with whom. Deadlines are yours to negotiate with your partner, as is what types of dolls to make. I'll try to keep track of everything!

This swap is open to ALL Farm Girls AND their families, in case there are kids home for the summer who'd like to participate. If a younger farm girl or boy is participating, please post their age (or an age range preferred for a partner)... In cases of children, I can act as a go-between between the parent and their partners if you wish.

I think everyone is exchanging homemade dolls. I don't think Erin has specified if you actually make it yourself. What do you think, Erin? I know Erin has some doll patterns that she was willing to share in the last swap. Also, if you type in "free doll patterns" in your search field, lots are available on the internet. Michael's Crafts Store also has a couple of different dolls you can purchase, some are forms that need to be stuffed and decorated. Some are forms that still need to be stuffed and decorated. We have some of my daughters first dolls that she made from some forms that you stuff and decorate. They last swap included stuffies and Erin has some that turned out really cute. That is probably also an alternative.
I am glad you have started another, Erin. Carmen will be exstatic(sp?). Well, we are on the list, so that makes 3!!! Yay!!! I will start thinking about it tonight. And the due date just before our tentative vacation...cool!!

Oh, My 9 yr old daughter would like to participate also. She will make a doll, but would rather make a dinosaur if someone would be interested in one. Jess

There are no firm rules. While most of us might prefer something made by you, it just needs to be handmade. You don't have to actually do it yourself. Just make sure that something associated with the doll has your "stamp" on it - something to make the swap more personal.

A possible alternative might be "rebirthed" dolls or what we Barbie folks call "customized" dolls where we take a manufactured doll and redo it. New hair, new face, new outfit, etc. If that is your specialty, then definitely mention it. Someone might not have considered that as a choice, and might be interested.

To make it easier, here's a list of possible types of dolls - pick what type(s) of dolls you would be willing to make and what type (s) you'd like to receive...

Baby doll
Rag doll (simple cloth doll like raggedy anne types or fairy tale dolls)
Cloth doll (more elaborate than rag dolls, sometimes adult characters)
Primitive dolls
Goddess dolls (includes beaded dolls)
Rebirthed or customized vinyl dolls
Fantasy Characters (like Angels, Dragons, Mermaids, Unicorns, etc.)
Animal dolls (simple or more elaborate, includes dinosaurs)
Monsters/aliens (a hit with the boys)
Puppets/Marionettes
Baby/Toddler dolls (something for very small children - no buttons, cords etc.)
Sock dolls or animals (sock monkey, sock dog...)
Crocheted or knit dolls

Erin, I am willing to try any one of the above mentioned dolls...except the crochetted and knitted dolls. I am not good at those at all. Jess

Niki, please send me your names, ages, email and mailing addy. Also, I need to have an idea of what type of dolls/toys that you and the girls would like to make, and what kind you all would like to receive. They don't have to be the same kinds and they don't have to all be cloth dolls. They can be stuffed animals or puppets, dollhouse sized dolls, clay dolls, etc...

My email is erinosmith@hotmail.com.
