I have gotten started on a rag rug using worn out sheets. I have torn them just like Mary Jane advice and have started it but the problem I'm having is that the darn thing keeps curling up. My DH asked me last night was I making a bowl cover. What did I do wrong and what can I do to save this? Wanted you all to know that I have missed chatting with you guys. I have a new computer so now maybe I can keep in touch with you all. Laura www.2lmzfarms.blogspot.com

It sounds like you might be putting un-even tension in your stitches. Some tight, some loose. I made one once and it curled a little but straightened out as it got bigger and got more weight to it.

lAURA, I think you need to increase a few stitches on each row as needed to keep it flat, to few stitches it curls, to many and it gets wavy. NANCY JO

If it is turning to a bowl you don't have enough increases in the previous rows to make it lay flat. So it is cupping take out a few rows and add more increases should lay flat.
If it gets too wavy then you have too many increases in the previous rows and the fabric can't lay flat because there is too much fabric. Take out a few rows and do less increases

Thank you, I ended up taking it all out and starting over, going to try to do what ya'll told me. I'm wanting to get it finished to take to June Jam and use it there. This is a big barrel race where the best from all over the country come and run. Everyone fixes up their camp sites and I was going to put it under my canopy where my chairs and table are. I got the call from my doctor yesterday. I had surgery on my ear last week, I had skin cancer on it. I was afraid I was going to lose half my ear but only ended up losing a 2 cm. Dr. Loria said he got everything and it looks good. I can go back in 6 wks and he can build my ear back up but I think I'm going to pass. DH says most women are either a 5,8, or a 10 but I'm a 22. It looks like I got shot with a 22. You can better believe that I'm wearing a huge hat from now on. Laura www.2lmzfarms.blogspot.com |

Thanks, I didn't tell anyone for I'm just like that. I keep some things to myself. I'm not scared of cancer for I knew I was in the Lord's hands. I could handle anything that came my way. I guess it was just vanity. I didn't want to look like a freak. Laura www.2lmzfarms.blogspot.com |

Why do you want to pass on the reconstruction surgery. Wouldn't it make so that you wouldn't feel like you had to wear a big hat. You might not want to wear the big hat if they could make it look more how you use to. Then you could smile at the world and say Yes I am a survivor. God is great that he gives talent to surgeons that they can remove cancer and things of that sort. He also blesses other surgeons with the capability to repair the damage that cancer has done. MAy God always walk with you and guid you down your paths what ever you decide to do you are lovely in his, mine and the other farmgirls eyes here. Take care sunshine

My hair is going to hide the big dimple on my ear. THe big hat is to keep the sun off of my ears. Sunshine, thank you for those encouraging words. This is twice that I have battled skin cancer. The first one was on my back and now my ear. I'm proud to stand up and shout at the world that I'm a survivor. I have only made it this far because of God's grace. No one knows how much I apperciate hearing from you girls and all the well wishes that you have sent my way. Here is a BIG HUG to you one and all ( ) Laura www.2lmzfarms.blogspot.com |
