Any of your farmgirls own a Ford F-150? I'm looking at buying a truck....used and just want to know if any of you girls know anything about this, any opinions on this truck and the items that have been replaced/repaired. I'm not concerned with the rough bed, I want one that is going to haul and run!! I really need one to haul my stuff...to the dump, to the thrift (well to and from....hehehe), also to haul mulch, dirt, rocks, etc.

here is the link to the listing of this truck, I know the price is above KBB, but I'm willing to pay a little more for the refurbished engine, if there is reasonable mileage on the new engine.

Thanks gals,
Georgann

Georgann - the truck looks great. My husband only buys Fords - swears by them for durability and lack of repairs. I didn't see where they had the mileage listed - that must mean it's pretty high, although these trucks last forever. It's not an 8-cylinder so as long as you won't be towing amything or hauling heavy loads, it should be ok, but most are full size engines, but it will be better on gas mileage. The bed looks great - dented but certainly not rusted and a truck bed should look like a truck bed, not a fancy car trunk! Is it close to you? Can you test drive it, because I would never buy a vechicle without driving it - you never can tell what may be wrong with it. It's a great price, but I would definitely have someone look it over first.

Good luck!
Linda

I think it will be perfect for you.. this is the truck we have now.. & i think one of that last ones My hubby had as well.. he's also had the F250.. he prefers the diesel.. but you really don't need that.. & think the F150 will be exactly what you need Kiddo.. Gas mileage should be pretty good too..

Linda makes a good point about hauling. Definitely look up the hauling and pulling capabilities if you want to use it for that.

We have a 2000 F150 but ours is the 4x4 model, so it's a bit more powerful than this one, but the truck you are looking at looks GREAT!

I have to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my truck! It's an awesomely comfortable ride and we both like to drive it. I'm definitely going to try to find a second one so we both can drive a truck. It's that nice to drive.

Georgann,

That looks like a well cared for truck. I have an F-150 flare side, a little newer, and 4x4. But guess what, it needs a new transmission, so I haven't driven it in a while! I'm hoping to get it fixed real soon. I love it :)

Both of my boys have had F150's and think they're great. I asked both what they thought of this venture of yours and they said go for it. They're sturdy, reliable, good on gas, and don't need much repair....ever. Sounds good to us! Susan

DH has a 1995 F-150 in great shape with a new engine and he paid $950. Maybe we got really lucky! It has been great driving this past year and it replaced an 1983 Ford p/u. So...with that said they are in general good dependable trucks, but I don't think 60-75.00 a week is "good" on gas! If you are just trotting around town maybe you will do better, this is his everyday, worksite, go everywhere truck.
Good luck with it, but definitely drive it, they do tend to have front end "drifting" issues when the suspension/ shocks are out of wack.

I read all of your responses and then went to test drive it. I also spent some time at a shop......gotta run and get the girls, but I'll tell you about it when I get back!!

thanks for all of your help, I was able to drive it without seeming like a total truck dummy because of ya'll.

More later....ya gotta here about this...oh, I didn't get the truck, but I know my truck is out there somewhere....later,
Georgann

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 1994 Ford 150 Truck I purchased this truck right after my husband passed away and I needed a farm truck. My baby has taken me to show after show hauling tons of products, animals and has done it all without so much as a hiccup. Even now that it is getting older and has had very minor repairs I still love that truck of mine. Everytime someone asks me why I do not get a different vehicle I reply "WHY"? I would find it very hard to part with him and I can not find a better vehicle for me. Good luck and if you are half as happy with that one as I am with mine - run with checkbook in hand.

We have a 2000 F-150. My husband has certainly abused it and it still runs great. However- make sure this truck has the cylinoid( the starter thing) replaced as there was a recall on those for certain years (like the 2000) as they are a fire hazard. Also do not expect better gas milege with a V6 if you are asking it to do the job of a V8. Good luck with the truck.
