Hello to all people out there. I was wondering if anyone knows howto kill off MINT? I know what your thinking "Kill the MInt?" but really, I have had it for over 7 years now and yes I was the one who planted it and now I am sorry that I did. The thing is is taking over and killing out my rose bush. If anyone has any ideas on what to do with it, please send them my way. I did one year make mint jelly... well thanks for reading and hope to hear from you all soon...
Sincerely,

hopeful on getting rid of the mint!

My FIL ran over it a gazillion times with the weed eater and eventually the mint gave up and quit coming back.

You can keep clipping it down to soil level every time you see a shoot and it will eventually use up all of its energy trying to grow. If you try pulling it up- make sure you get every bit of root because disturbing the roots can actually make it spread faster. Otherwise you can dig up the whole section of garden and sift out the mint from the soil. Good Luck!

Last spring I mixed 1/4 c salt in a quart of vinegar, sprayed the plants and covered the whole mess with black plastic. The only shoots that survived were on the edge of the plastic. I'll repeat this Monday and hopefully be done with it.

Last summer the drought we had in Austin effectively killed my mint. So I would think that black plastic would do the trick since it would be "no water and lots of heat".
