Grace ahs suddenly changed her mind abouther birthday party.

We are going to be indoors and she wants a gypsy birthday.

we are going to pull out all of my kid friendly belly dance stuff, shiney fabrics and pareos and decorating the livingroom like a vardo. I am going to set up a little table to do mock palm readings, crystal ball, tarot, etc. for fun, if I can make it over to park rapids before saturday I am going to get a kids henna kit, but I am at a loss as to what we should do for other activites....any ideas?

HELP!!! I HAVE TWO DAYS!!!! YIKES!

That is my fly by the seat of her pants Taurean girl for you....

A magic eight ball might work as a fortune telling game... They are pretty inexpensive at Target or Wal-mart.

a belly dancing class?

pony rides?

When my daughter was a gypsy one halloween we got a bag of those thin, cheap gold coins with a hole in them and made necklaces and bracletts and a headband thing. I think we got them at JoAnns. Depending on age they could put them on chains or tie them on gold cords and get some gypsy jewlery.

What about doing an imaginary journey? I am not sure how old your daughter is, but when I was a kid I loved those imaginary journeys that were guided- the "We're going on a bear hunt" type things.

I think Erins 8 Ball idea is great.. or you could use a gazing ball from the garden!
When my Daughter was little i was the Leader of her Girl Scout Troop.. One year we had a Halloween party .. We set it up like a mini Fall Festival with little Booths.. I was dressed up like an old Gypsy woman.. & when the girls came to my booth of course i told them their fortune.. I read their palms & told them silly things like they were going to have 20 kids.. & exactly who they were marry
( which was pretty hilarious ) because i knew all the girls & boys that they went to school with.. so i knew just the right boys name to tell them that would make them flip! You know.. I knew to make sure that i told Jennifer that she was destined to marry that boy Freddy that picked his nose all the time! They were squeeling the whole time.. Each booth they got a prize or gift or something small.. In the Gypsy booth.. i gave them a Chinese Fortune cookie..
It was pretty fun..
Really goofy.. they girls loved the whole thing .. I think your daughter is going to love this Birthday !! & the theme that she's picked!

Going along with the carnival theme, I'm trying to remember games of chance or skill that I remember from childhood parties and carnivals. How about the clothes pin drop (from nose level into a vase)? Or the ring toss (you can use canning jar rings and plastic soda bottles weighted with sand). Or the wishing well, where you drop your bucket over a partition of some kind and someone behind the curtain puts a prize in it? I'm not sure how old Grace is, but these were things we did often at elementary school age parties.

Maybe you could use those gold foil-covered chocolate coins as party favors and prizes?

Would any kind of star gazing fit into this party? Astrology and Roman Gods is kinda Gypsy-ish to me...
