Ok, I'm convinced. I'll try it the next time I wash my hair. Then I'll have to convince my daughter to do the same. Thanks for the info.

I have not used shampoo or conditioner since March 4!! My hair feels great and even if I blowdry it, it is soft (unless it is humid) and manageable. I have naturally "whitish" hair that sometimes I add a blond coloring too, and it was not really stripped as far as I can tell. My friends think I am a total weirdo, but will admit my hair looks good to them. They had to smell it up close to see if it smelled funny.
I am going to make my own deep conditioner this weekend since my hair will get a little frizzy soon with the hot, humid air soon. |

Ok Ladies I just ran across this tread, I tried this this morning and now I am wondering if you guys are using the ACV full strength or watering it down. The reason I ask is because my hair still smells like it and I rinsed it very well and it is fully dry. Has anyone ran into this? I love it other wise my very long coarse wavy hair is so soft and relitivly tangle free but I am not crazy about the smell.

I use a little tupperware container and put the ACV in there with some warm water. Then I put it in my hair and let it sit a minute while I wash my face, etc. I never have the smell. |

I think that my hair is just so long that i did not get it all rinsed out. I got my Dear honey to try it last night and he said that he liked the way it made his hair feel. He did get the ACV in a cut though and i thought he was going to go through the roof.

Just thought I'd share my recent experience. I've been shampoo free for about 8 weeks, and my hair has been just fine. My scalp has been great, better than before (not itchy or flaky), and I've noticed a big decrease in hair loss. Then we went on vacation for 10 days. I didn't take any baking soda or vinegar with me, and went back to the shampoo and conditioner for vacation. Bad Move!! Within 3 days my scalp started itching again, and by the end of the vacation I was itching soooo bad (I think because I was more focused in on it), and I even noticed that the hair loss had increased again. Almost the very first thing I did when we got back was to do my hair again with baking soda and vinegar (and the vinegar rinse stung from all the itching). This was a real eye-opener for me regarding shampoo products.

I love this thread. I think that BS is one of those staples that you can't have too much of around the house. I shop at Winco here in town and they have a do-it-yourself bulk section. Each time I go I buy out all of their bulk BS! LOL I always get weird looks from the checkers when I have these huge bags full of BS!

I have been shampoo free for six months now and it is the best! My hair is softer and even if I don't use the ACV, itis smooth enough to brush right away. I made a paste with the BS the other day and washed my face with it and even that was awesome. My face with so smooth and clean after that. No dryness or itching (my skin is sensitive). It is so good to be a little more free from products. |

I've been mostly poo free since this thread started, using Bronner's soap and an ACV rinse. I just recently ran across African Black soap and LOVE it for my hair. It is much more soothing to me even than Bronner's. With no poo, my psoriasis is improved a LOT and my hair is growing like crazy! Not nearly as much falling out, either.

I didn't come across this til tonight and was curious about how it would work for me. This was the prefect time to try the BS and ACV test. Since it was a jazzercise night and my hair needed some serious cleaning, I gave it a try. Just finished washing it and I also added the honey/water rinse as well. Holy Cow!!!!!!!!!! (I was a bit skeptical since my hair is a tangled mess without conditioner) After I washed it with the BS, it was so clean, it squeaked, so fresh smelling to boot. Then the real test came. I poured on the ACV(Braggs)rinsed it a bit and then poured on the honey/water rinse and left that in. Again, HOLY COW, I can actually run my fingers through my wet hair before I combed it out. And when I combed it, the comb simply just glided through. This is a first for me. My hair is course and wavy, the gray hairs are wiry and it's thick and midback lenght. Right now, my head is still wrapped in a towel(I never blow dry)So I can't wait to see what it feels like in the morning ( :
I'll let you know!!!! Trace
PS, I was so crazy about this, I too, washed my face with BS and my face is so soft now and not dry or tight feeling.

Well, I have to say, my hair is amazingly soft after the Non shampoo wash. I'm going to keep at it and see about the long term results.

I have been at this since January, when I started this thread and I promise you I will never go back. I used some Bronner's once or twice through the course of the past 8 months and I hated it. The BS is the best thing I have ever used for my hair.
My hair has grown faster, too, it seems and I don't lose nearly the amount I use to when showering or brushing.
I have gotten a number of my friends on board with this and they all love it and thank me all the time for mentioning it to them.
Now that I am pregnant, my hair (as in the past) gets REALLY thick and hard to manage, but thus far, I have had no problems managing my thickening hormonal hair.
I am so happy this took off among you all!

Tasha, tomorrow I am going to have my girlfriends feel my hair, THEN tell them what I used, lol. I think they are going to be pleasently suprized and ready to try it themselves.
My hair still feels so good tonight, even after jazzercicse class where is was hot as blue blazes in the school gym. Because of hot water heater problems, I didn't do a fulltime shower and my hair didn't need it.

I have decided to give the no poo thing a try. I washed my hair tonight with bs and rinsed with acv. My hair feels so clean and soft! I always have trouble combing through my hair because it's so thick and wavy, but after not using shampoo and conditioner, the comb just slid through! Can't wait to see what my hair looks like when it dries! |

I just wanted to bump this thread.........just cuz its worth it. I've been no-poo for almost 4 years and have not looked back. I only wash with the baking soda and ACV rinse once a week. I keep a little jar with a tight lid full of BS and a red wine vinegar bottle (the kind that sprinkles) in the shower. My routine is really quick and easy and has stood the test of time, at least for me. My kids haven't had shampoo on their hair and they all three have lovely, soft, shiney hair. Things just wash right out of their hair, usually with plain ole water. I started a thread over on Mothering.com about this :) Warning...its over 18 pages long. http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=108474 Go NO-POO!!!!!!!

How do you mix the BS and still use it in the shower, do you wash your hair in the sink after the shower or can do you mix it first and take it in the shower with you? Also, Do you keep a bottle of the vinegar in the shower and what about the honey rinse. I have only done this in the kitchen sink after my shower. I have to mix it all up first. Can you make it in a large portions and then only use a little or what? Thanks.

I prepare the BS and ACV mixtures and pour them into water bottles with the squirty caps from an old sports drink bottle. Then I just keep the bottles in the shower like I did with the shampoo and conditioner prior to going poo free. 2 cups of each last me about a week.
I've been doing this about two weeks and cannot believe the difference in my hair. It is less oily and much fuller than before. I may even become brave enough to stop using hair dye and let my gray grow out. Thanks so much for sharing the info. |

I no-pooed my dog the other day because he skin has been super itchy lately. I am hoping this will help her out a bit. I am going to have to do it again today.

Since I started this, I have become a No-Poo convert too.. I simply like what it does for my hair and scalp. I started putting it in shaker bottles too, much easier.
