Just wanted to see how Mahri and Meadow are doing. My girls and I received a lovely thank you card from Mahri and her dad today. I'm so happy she liked the parcel and is doing better.
Best wishes,
Jayne

Just wondering if there was an update on the girls? I just saw the post after being gone from the forum for a long time and my heart just broke for them. If someone could update us on them it would be great.

Valerie
Yes, I live in my own little world. But that's ok they know me here.

Hi farmgirls! Word from MaryJanesFarm is that they are waiting to hear back from Meadow’s grandmother about how Meadow is doing - she has improved enough to leave the hospital and has gone home with Stefanie’s mom - the last they heard she was still making progress. Mahri is doing wonderfully healthwise, but, as you might imagine, she has a hard time being left alone but her Dad is 100% there for her.

All of your thoughts, prayers and gifts were a HUGE help, just huge. Mahri felt sooooo loved. I think often of these two little ones, and you all are such a family of "aunties" to them - a girl (or boy!) can never have too many aunties!

XOXO, Libbie

Here's an update on both Meadow and Mahri.

Lori, Stefanie's mother, brought four-month-old Meadow home from the hospital to live with her on Dec. 27. Lori not only quit her full-time job to be with Meadow around the clock but Lori’s sister also moved here from S. Idaho to help with Meadow for as long as Lori needs her help.

Without a doubt, Meadow is a smiling, cooing MIRACLE! Neurologists and ophthalmologists weren’t encouraging but now that she’s home she’s gained a normal amount of weight (weighing in now at 11 lbs.9oz.), she’s sleeping fine, and doesn’t spit up at all. (For quite a while, Meadow was unrecognizable; she was so swollen, her trauma so harsh.) Lori is slowing weaning her off her seizure medicine and that’s working--no seizures. The doctors predicted she’d stay on a feeding tube but she is sucking just fine as long as Lori puts a bit of thickener in her milk, a type of guar gum. Right now it’s “honey thick.” Next week, she’ll take it down to “nectar thick.”

Meadow is getting a lot of daily physical therapy from Lori and her sister and of course over-the-top LOVE. Meadow still has a little trouble getting her head up when she’s on her stomach, but other than that, she’s right where a four-month-old should be. Lori found an organic baby formula but mostly Meadow is getting fresh mother’s milk. There are four faithful volunteers (mothers at home with infants) who express extra milk and bring it daily to Lori.

Mahri is back in school, although she and her Daddy will be going to Scotland sometime this spring to be with his people. Mahri says things like, “Let’s remember not to be too sad.” In school, they’ve bumped her ahead a class because of her reading. She still can’t believe all the gifts and cards she received. She thanks everyone for loving her so much.

Wonderful to hear the great updates. While the loss is so great, it is so encouraging to see the way people step up to the plate in the face of tragedy and do greater things than they might ever had done had the challenge not presented itselfs. The rewards Lori and her sister will reap will be eternal. As for Mahri, the strength and maturity she shows is amazing and I believe she will be able to use this tragedy to help others in the years to come. Blessings can be found in the most unexpected circumstances. Thanks fo the update.

I so often think of these little ones and am overcome with a desire for their lives to be GOOD. I can almost picture their little smiling faces, and that's what I wish for them in my heart - that their worlds hold many, many smiles and the knowledge that there are a whole big bunch of "aunties" out here who are wanting the best for them...

Can we hear an update on Stefanie and Mahri? It has been about a month since we heard anything. They are still in my thoughts and prayers. Just would like to know how they are. Thanks!

Hello everyone.
I just heard from Mahri's dad, who says Mahri is doing well and is "ninety-nine percent back to full physical fitness and talking about starting a gymnastics class soon." They're hoping to buy property in the Seattle area and are excited about that. Meadow is still with her grandma here in Moscow and continues to improve as well. Graeme sent the following photos along, which he thought you would all enjoy seeing.

Thank you again for all your love and support!

Wow! It is amazing how fast the young can heal. Any idea is little Meadow is going to have permanent damage from the wreck? They both look so beautiful! Mahri looks like she is doing wonderful.

What beautiful young girls they are. From my own experiences I know that all things happen for a reason even if we can't understand the "why" at the time. When one door closes, another opens and we always need to trust in God. You can tell from the picture of Mahri how exceptional she is.
Blessings to all who have prayed and all who have taken the time to send gifts.
