We have just a couple weeks left until our calf is due! We are all getting so excited! I am feeling a little nervous because this will be my first calf being born here and I hope everything goes smoothly. I have been checking on mom daily to watch for any changes. So far there hasn't been any!

Thanks Heather! She is still holding that baby in. We are supposed to have nice weather by the end of the week. This would be a great time for the baby to be born. 2 of my kids think the baby will be a girl and the other 2 think it will be a boy. I think it will be a girl, but since I think its a girl it will most likely be a boy!

Krista, hope the baby comes soon! What an awesome experience. We live in the city, and own town won't even allow us to have chickens. Therefore, we are taking good care of our backyard birds, our bees, and our lizards! We are also trying to get more dragonflies to visit. So much fun taking care of them! We have so many new baby lizards running around our yard!

Friday is her due date. I think she is going to make us wait! Who knew the anticipation would be so bad lol!

Nancy, I bet your backyard birds, bees and lizards just love you! I love baby lizards. I wish we had some more running around our yard.

Thank you Connie Sue!

Are lizard babies in the yard a natural thing or do you put the lizards there? I've only seen lizards as a pet. But, I also thought lightning bugs were everywhere. It blew my mind that some farmgirls have never seen one!!

Krista - it's been my experience that bull calves can be a week late. Twins are usually a week early. Heifers are usually pretty close to their due dates, but rarely do we have a calf born on it's actual due date. There are always exceptions though LOL! Hopefully this weekend the anticipation will be over and the cuddles will begin :)

We have lizards on our porches, vines and hanging plants all the time in the Carolina’s.

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel.

Heather, I have never seen a lightning bug! I really want to though. We were told the same thing from the family about heifers and bull calves. It's looking like it may be a bull calf after all lol! She has had some good progression the last 2 days with her udder.

I'd say she's getting close then! They really seem to "udder up" as we call it, right before the baby comes. It's not too late to still hope for a heifer. Usually 3 or 4 days can still be a girl :)
